NEWARK, Calif. -- Socket Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:SCKT), an innovative provider of mobile productivity products, today announced support for the Palm(R) Treo(TM) 700w smartphone running Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0. Socket's E300 SD WLAN Card, Wi-Fi Companion software, SD Scan Card 3E and Cordless Hand Scanner 7 Series (7E, 7M and 7P) have been tested and work with the Palm 700w:

--E300 SD WLAN Card - Designed for Windows Mobile devices, the Socket Go Wi-Fi! E300 is the smallest, fastest, most secure 802.11b SDIO Wi-Fi card available. It includes Socket's Wi-Fi Companion software application, an intuitive graphical utility that enables users to easily find, connect and manage available or favorite Wi-Fi networks.

--Wi-Fi Companion - Designed for Pocket PCs with integrated 802.11 WLAN, Socket Wi-Fi Companion is an intuitive, graphical software application that greatly improves the user's experience detecting hotspots, setting up and monitoring a connection, performing basic site management functions, viewing access points and determining the strength of a wireless connection.

--SD Scan Card 3E - The Secure Digital Scan Card (SDSC) 3E is a Series 3 entry-level bar code scanner that adds affordable scanning to Pocket PC or Palm devices. Based on miniature Linear CMOS Imaging technology, the SDSC 3E scans all popular linear bar code symbologies. SocketScan keyboard emulation software sends decoded data to any Windows or Palm application just like keyboard entry.

--Cordless Hand Scanner 7 Series - Socket's Cordless Hand Scanner (CHS) Series 7 offers wireless bar code scanning to meet a wide range of application requirements and make mobile scanning convenient and simple. The CHS Series 7 includes the versatility of Linear CMOS technology as well as the power of laser bar code scanning technology with the convenience of Bluetooth(R) Wireless Technology in a single compact, light-weight product that fits comfortably in the palm of a hand. The CHS 7M and 7P also feature Fuzzy Logic laser scanning technology for reading damaged, poor quality or hard-to-read bar code labels. All CHS Series 7 products offer a powerful Class 1 Bluetooth radio to assure the maximum possible cordless range. The CHS Series 7 is supported by Socket's SocketScan(TM) keyboard emulation software and software developer's kit (SDK).

"Socket has supported Palm products for years and through our established relationship, we will continue to ensure that Socket quickly supports new devices as they are introduced," said Peter Phillips, vice president of marketing at Socket.
