IONA'S Artix Named an ESB ''Leader'' by Independent Research Firm; Artix Cited for its Strong Multi-protocol Support
Business Wire, July 11, 2006
WALTHAM, Mass. -- IONA(R) Technologies (NASDAQ: IONA), a world leader in high-performance integration solutions for mission-critical IT environments, today announced that Forrester Research has named Artix(TM), the company's extensible Enterprise Service Bus (ESB), a "Leader" in the Forrester Wave(TM): Enterprise Service Bus. Artix was evaluated against more than 100 criteria that include not only feature sets and functionality, but also customer testimonials and product strategy. According to the Forrester Wave, "IONA Technologies is the leader in multi-protocol support, which is important at the high end of the enterprise service bus (ESB) market," and "best suited for high-end, complex and heterogeneous environments."
The Forrester Wave promotes Artix as "a natural fit for CORBA(R) and Web services shops" and for organizations that "require a flexible multi-protocol ESB for integrating custom applications," and "need to limit the cost of a full deployment." Forrester also highlights the benefit to IONA's customers derived by the company's involvement in the open source community, primarily its sponsorship of the Celtix open source ESB project.
"IONA's global 2000 customers are demanding SOA infrastructure technology that allows them to streamline and modernize their IT systems while taking advantage of existing assets, a strategy that is crucial to generating greater ROI and also lowering total operating costs, and Artix exemplifies these strengths," explained Larry Alston, vice president of marketing and product management, IONA. "A 'Leader' position in the Forrester Wave gives our customers additional confidence that Artix is well positioned to meet their rigorous demands for Service Oriented Architecture infrastructure software."
