Background: The PSE Wild Horse Wind Project is located on Whisky Dick
Mountain in Kittitas County. Seventeen of 127 wind
turbines are already in place. When completed by the end
of 2006, the Wild Horse Wind Project will have a
generating capacity of 230 megawatts -- enough
electricity to power 76,000 homes, ranches and businesses
in Kittitas County and the Puget Sound region.

The Wild Horse Wind Project is PSE's second wind farm.
PSE's two wind projects together will produce enough
electricity to serve approximately 120,000 household
customers. They also will help PSE reduce net power costs
by an estimated $170 million over the next 20 years.

Puget Sound Energy's Pioneer Award annually recognizes an
individual who has demonstrated selfless leadership and
vision for the benefit of the community. Hartwig Vatheuer
of Cle Elum is receiving the 2006 Pioneer Award on July
12 in recognition of his community service to Kittitas
             County.
