TomoTherapy Inc. Expands; Open House Held for New Manufacturing Facility; Ribbon cutting event highlighted 100th Hi-Art System® Milestone
Business Wire, July 18, 2006
MADISON, Wis. -- TomoTherapy Incorporated unveiled its new Operations Center with an open house event Tuesday, July 18th. The event took place in the Old Sauk Trails Business Park at 1209 Deming Way, just across from TomoTherapy Inc.'s headquarter building. Company officials and local dignitaries were on hand to commemorate the opening of the 66,000-square-foot building. The expansion is expected to create more than 300 jobs over the next three years.
Dr. Thomas "Rock" Mackie, TomoTherapy Inc. co-founder, sees this as an opportunity to keep the company on the cutting edge. "Being able to bring prospective customers to TomoTherapy's world-class facility has been a factor in our rapid growth. We expect that our new Operations Center will provide us with unrivaled manufacturing capability."
The new facility is designed for flexible and LEAN operations, having the capability to support more than four times the current production and test volumes. The building also offers room for further expansion in assembly, test and support areas.
In addition to the open house, TomoTherapy Inc. also celebrated an important milestone, the production of the 100th Hi-Art System at the world headquarters in Madison. Dr. Fred Robertson, TomoTherapy Inc. CEO, said, "It is a proud moment for everyone associated with TomoTherapy to see this type of progress. We continue to move rapidly toward our vision of enabling cancer patients global, and local, access to our state-of-the-art TomoTherapy technology. It also speaks directly to the dedication and hard work of our employees." The finishing touches are being put on the system now and it will be shipped to Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany, New York early next month.
