iPass Positioned in Leaders Quadrant for 2006 Managed Remote Access and Mobility Services Magic Quadrant; Top Analyst Firm Positions iPass in Leaders Quadrant Based on Completeness of Vision and Ability to Execute

Business Wire, July 19, 2006

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. -- iPass Inc. (NASDAQ: IPAS) today announced that analyst firm Gartner Inc. has placed iPass in the Leaders Quadrant in its July 10 report titled, "Magic Quadrant for Managed Remote Access and Mobility Services (U.S.), 2006" by Eric Paulak. According to Gartner, leaders are vendors that are performing well today, have a clear vision of market direction and are actively building competencies to sustain their leadership position in the market.

"We see this recognition from Gartner as an early confirmation of our strategies and investments to grow our business and serve the mobile and remote employees of global enterprises," said Joel Wachtler, vice president of marketing and strategy, iPass.

In the "Managed Remote Access and Mobility Services" Magic Quadrant, leaders have a complete package of remote and mobile worker solutions. On the business side, they are vendors that do not rely too much on dial-up access revenue. They also have easy-to-use access clients and policy management.

For inclusion in this report, vendors offered, among other things: universal roaming, mobile dial, wired broadband and wireless access (Wi-Fi and cellular data); managed security and platform services; device management and business site aggregation services.

"iPass in the past year has greatly broadened its suite for teleworkers, branch offices and 3G mobile data. In addition, we have nearly tripled the size of our Wi-Fi roaming network and have deepened the value of our endpoint management services," said iPass CEO Ken Denman. "We believe the value of these efforts is reflected in our success in serving more than 300 Forbes Global 2000 customers and receiving this positive acknowledgement from Gartner."

The criteria that Gartner considered for positioning companies in the Magic Quadrant included: customer experience; market responsiveness and track record; products/services and overall viability (business unit, financial, strategy, organization). To determine completeness of vision, each vendor's 18-month plan was evaluated in the following areas: innovation; business model; product strategy and market understanding, among other areas.
