Business Wire, July 19, 2006
HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. -- Globecomm Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: GCOM), a global provider of end-to-end value-added satellite-based communications solutions, announced today that the Company has been awarded an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract from The Department of The Navy Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center to provide portable satellite communications terminals.
Globecomm, along with four other companies, has been awarded an IDIQ multiple awards contract for portable satellite communications terminals. These contracts include a one-year base period and four one-year option periods, making the total potential period of performance five years. When combined, the aggregate value of all delivery orders awarded over the life of the contracts could be up to $30,600,000. The four companies and Globecomm may compete for the delivery orders under the terms and conditions of the awarded contracts. Work under the initial year is expected to be completed July 2007 and if all options are exercised, ordering equipment could continue until July 2011.
"Globecomm has spent considerable time and effort to design, develop and demonstrate the broad capabilities of the Company's portable satellite communication terminals," said David Hershberg, Chairman and CEO. "While there is no guarantee that this will result in contract awards to the Company, it does guarantee that Globecomm will be competing for multiple contracts to supply the Department of the Navy with portable satellite terminals for the next five years and we are very excited to have been included in this broad program."
