openQRM Project Announces Support for Xen, VMware, QEMU and VServer Virtualization Technologies; IT Administrators Can Now Start Applications Either on a Physical Server or in Virtual Environments Without Having to Re-Configure File System Images

Business Wire, July 24, 2006

PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Qlusters, Inc., the leading provider of open source data center management and automation software for physical and virtualized environments, today announced openQRM plug-in support for the Xen(TM), VMware(TM), QEMU and Linux VServer projects. Each plug-in takes advantage of openQRM's advanced virtualization layer and provides a proven method for IT administrators to start applications either on a physical server or virtual environment without having to reconfigure file system images.

"As companies increasingly rely on virtualization solutions to achieve optimal utilization of their data center operations, it is important that they easily integrate within their systems management solutions," said William Hurley, CTO of Qlusters. "openQRM is the only offering that can integrate VMware, Xen, QEMU and Linux VServer into a single open-source systems management platform. As a result, the integration of these technologies creates a powerful open source solution for organizations looking to automate their physical and virtualized environments."

To support each virtualization technology, the openQRM platform comes pre-configured with a generic, logical layer called the "partition engine." This partition engine provides a virtualized server resource that is used the same way as a physical system with no configuration changes required on the application's file system-images. Plug-ins for each specific virtualization solution can then be added into the partition-engine making it easy to support the creation, management and administration of any type of server under management.

"I'm very pleased to see openQRM so tightly integrated with QEMU," said Fabrice Bellard, founder of QEMU. "openQRM and QEMU are fast becoming the software of choice for systems and virtualization management and Qlusters' commitment to expanding the project's capabilities to meet the communities needs makes them a major player in this space."
