Alltel Offers Crisis Communications Solution to Enterprise Customers; Wallace Wireless Software Puts Disaster Recovery Plans on BlackBerry Devices
Business Wire, July 24, 2006
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Enterprise customers of Alltel Wireless (NYSE: AT) now can store emergency plans on their BlackBerry(R) devices from Research In Motion (RIM) (NASDAQ: RIMM) and access those plans during times of crisis, thanks to Alltel's partnership with Wallace Wireless.
"Businesses and governments are increasingly conscious of the need to keep disaster recovery and continuity of operations plans in the hands of key decision-makers at all times," said Elisabeth Owen, president of wireless business solutions for Alltel. "Storing that data on BlackBerry devices empowers decision-makers to respond quickly and effectively during a crisis."
The Wallace Incident Communicator software was created specially for the BlackBerry platform. It allows business and public safety officials to update emergency response plans, create forms and check lists, view images, monitor camera feeds, locate personnel and retain legally mandated records.
Alltel, America's largest wireless network, provides BlackBerry service virtually everywhere voice service is available. The BlackBerry 7130e(TM) and BlackBerry 7250(TM) devices are available through Alltel's retail and business channels.
"First responders, government agencies, utilities, banks and school systems have all benefited from the Wallace Incident Communicator," said Rob Moffat, Wallace Wireless president. "We're committed to providing a total solution for mobile emergency response and business continuity, and we're thrilled that our service is now available over Alltel's wireless network."
