Quest Software Rolls Out .NET Application Management Solutions; Proactive Monitoring and Real-time Diagnostics Help Deliver, Manage and Control .NET Applications
Business Wire, July 24, 2006
ALISO VIEJO, Calif. -- As companies increasingly adopt .NET technologies for the development and deployment of business-critical applications, there is a rising need for .NET application management solutions. To support this growing demand, Quest Software, Inc. (Nasdaq:QSFT) today launched two .NET application management solutions designed to deliver, manage and control .NET applications. Both of the new solutions are powered by AVIcode's .NET management technology, and build on an OEM agreement Quest signed earlier this year.
--Quest(R) Management Pack for .NET works with Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005. Only Quest and its OEM partner provide a management pack for .NET application management.
--Foglight(R) for .NET, a key component of Quest's Application Advantage strategy for managing complex application environments, expands Quest's Foglight portfolio of monitoring and management products to .NET applications.
Constellation Energy, a leading energy provider, is an early adopter of Quest's Foglight for .NET solution. "We knew that we had performance and availability issues with our on-line workflow application based on customer comments," said Ken Allred, managing director of IT, Constellation Energy Commodities Group. "We initially installed Foglight for .NET in our QA environment, but quickly realized the value and decided to deploy the solution across our entire production environment. In less than one day we were able to discover availability issues and diagnose performance problems attributable to the request of third party data via a web service call."
Designed to discover, diagnose and resolve .NET application performance and availability issues, Quest Management Pack for .NET and Foglight for .NET proactively monitor applications and inform IT staff of impending performance and availability issues. The products' diagnostic capabilities minimize time to problem resolution through tight integration with Microsoft Visual Studio to pinpoint performance issues and exceptions. Both Quest solutions generate reports summarizing availability hot spots and integrate seamlessly with existing IT environments.
The new offerings join Quest's portfolio of Microsoft infrastructure management products, and are the latest additions to Quest solutions that support MOM 2005. Quest continues to closely align with Microsoft to provide quality solutions for Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange Server, SharePoint and SQL Server.
"Quest's .NET application management solutions fill a gap for companies that experience performance issues with revenue-generating, business-critical applications implemented in .NET," said Steve Stover, product manager for Quest's .NET application management solutions. "For the first time, they have a comprehensive solution that proactively monitors applications, provides real-time performance and exception diagnostics, and alerts appropriate staff of impending performance and availability issues. There are no other products on the market today that offer such a comprehensive way to manage .NET applications."
