Compete Revenues Grow 70% in First Half 2006; Growth Fueled by New Brand Strategies for Online Engagement
Business Wire, July 31, 2006
BOSTON -- Compete, Inc. today announced that revenues grew 70% during the first half of 2006 as compared with the first half 2005. Compete attributes this growth to what the work brands are doing to focus their online strategies and create deeper relationships with customers. Supporting these client initiations and contributing to its first half growth, Compete launched a Travel Practice, key alliances including MSN, Forrester Research, and the Center for the Digital Future, and major customer wins including Subaru of America, Inc.
"The shift to online is more than buying search terms, banner ads and skyscrapers," said Don McLagan, president, chairman and CEO of Compete. "Compete is helping brands understand, reach and engage their consumers in new ways. Our first half milestones point the way for more growth and marketing innovation."
Significant milestones for 2006 include:
Expansion: Compete recently announced the launch of its Travel Practice. The launch extends Compete's reach and marketing intelligence services into the single largest e-commerce industry. With the launch of its Travel Practice, Compete increases its industry coverage and will provide travel marketers with the real-time insights and intelligence they need to capitalize on the explosive growth of this market. In addition, Compete was selected by Subaru of North America to provide advertising and incentive effectiveness, as well as vehicle cross-shop intelligence to manage day-to-day tactical decision-making in support of its U.S. sales growth plans.
With the addition of Subaru of America, Inc. Compete now works with 70% of the automotive OEMs. Compete also works with three of four major U.S. wireless carriers as well as major financial institutions, including two of the largest banks in the US.
Customer Day 2006: In June, Compete hosted its third annual Customer Day, a marketing roundtable which included executives from Ameriprise Financial, BzzAgent, Carlson Hotels Worldwide, Communispace, Digital Influence Group, E-LOAN(R), InPhonic, Jack Morton Worldwide, MSN, One to One Interactive, Sprint Nextel, Subaru of America, Inc., Third Screen Media, Upromise(R), Verizon Wireless , W2 Group and Wells Fargo. Under the day's theme "How New Technology Takes on Madison Avenue," these visionary executives discussed how corporate growth and success lies not with Madison Avenue, but with consumers themselves who are ready for personalized marketing efforts delivered through the routes that they choose.
Partnerships: On June 26, Compete announced a strategic alliance with the USC Annenberg School Center for the Digital Future. Together, the organizations will collaborate to create new insights for consumers, businesses, and policymakers regarding the use of Internet technology and its impact on the daily lives of Americans.
Compete has also collaborated with MSN and Media Contacts on a study entitled "Consumer Adoption of Online Retirement Planning Tools" and with Forrester Research Inc. (Nasdaq: FORR) on a new study entitled "Online Mortgage Shoppers' Paths to Purchase: Navigational And Survey Data Uncovers How Prospects Use Sites."
Analyst Validation: Compete analysts regularly provided their expertise to major publications and key conferences including a Net.Finance 2006 presentation "Create Effective and Exciting Brand Experiences Online To Stay Top Of Mind With Consumers" as well as a webinar, with featured presenter Forrester Research, entitled, "Marketing 2.0: Early Lessons from the Pioneers of Next-Generation Marketing" that addressed how innovative marketers are using new techniques and technologies to engage consumers, improve customer acquisition and increase profitability.
