Drew Schutte Named Vice President & Publishing Director of Wired Media

NEW YORK -- Drew Schutte has been named Vice President & Publishing Director of Wired Media, it was announced today by Charles Townsend, President and C.E.O. of Conde Nast Publications. In his new position, Schutte will oversee the sales and marketing for both Wired magazine and the Wired News Internet business, which includes seven internet channels. Conde Nast purchased Wired.com earlier this month reuniting, after eight years, the print and digital brands of Wired.

In addition, Jay Lauf was named Publisher of Wired magazine. He will continue to report to Mr. Schutte. These appointments are effective immediately. As a result of the recent acquisition, Paul van de Kamp will continue on as Director of National Sales for Wired News.

Mr. Schutte became Publisher of Wired in November, 1999 and was promoted to Vice President in 2004. He joined the magazine in 1994 as West Coast Advertising Manager. Before joining Wired, Mr. Schutte spent three years at Business Week based in San Francisco. Prior to that he was East Coast Manager for PC Week and West Coast Manager for Inc.

Mr. Lauf became Associate Publisher of Wired in 2004. He joined the magazine in 2001 as National Ad Director. Before joining Wired, Mr. Lauf was Ad Director on the launch of the U.S. edition of T3, Tomorrow's Technology Today. Prior to that he was National Ad Director for Consumer Interaction Solutions, a technology trade, and Group Publisher for The Merchandiser Group, a collection of trade magazines for the retailer industry.

Conde Nast Publications, a unit of Advance Publications, includes twenty-seven consumer magazines, Parade, five destination web sites, the Conde Nast Media Group, and the Shared Services Centers.
