Progressive Gila River Indian Community Chooses CopperCom For New, State-of-The-Art Arizona Network; Switchmaxx Web Portal Plays Key Role in Deployment and Decision to Choose CopperCom
Business Wire, July 6, 2006
BOCA RATON, Fla. -- CopperCom today announced Gila River Telecommunications Inc. (GRTI) will replace eight legacy Nortel switches with CopperCom's industry leading CSX in a host-remote configuration. The deployment -- the first host-remote rollout in Arizona -- is part of the progressive telco's plans to overhaul its overall operation and offer advanced voice and data services to a rapidly developing area owned by the Gila River Indian Community.
Considered a model for Native American economic development, the Gila River Indian Community has experienced explosive growth. It currently boasts two golf courses, a 500-room four-star resort with spa and equestrian center, a newly constructed 400-acre business park, three casinos, a theme park, raceway and acres of residential communities. In operation since 1988, GRTI currently serves over 3,800 lines, including business, residence and private-line circuits.
"Our mission is to provide state-of-the-art service that meets the needs of our community and gives them the most advanced services available today. CopperCom's CSX was the clear choice for us with its voice over IP services, Web portal and advanced application support. It will allow us to deliver the types of cutting-edge voice and data offerings that our customers demand and deserve," said Michael Scully, general manager, GRTI.
"GRTI evaluated multiple switch vendors, but chose CopperCom for their commitment to service, as well as the capabilities and flexibility of their products. We especially appreciated CopperCom's thoroughness, understanding of our business objectives and their commitment to a high level of service. We did our research, and learned that CopperCom is the leader when it comes to softswitch deployments. The company responded to our queries immediately. We've been very impressed," Scully continued.
GRTI's new network incorporates CopperCom CSX switches in a host-remote configuration, with the host switch based at the telco's new network operation center currently under construction in Chandler, Ariz. Connected via Internet Protocol (IP) trunks to remote switches, the complex will deliver a host of legacy and broadband services over more than 100 miles of fiber optic cable to a 625-square mile service area.
GRTI will allow its customers to shop, buy and manage their services through the Switchmaxx Self-Care Web portal. The ability to have services managed by customers 24 hours a day over the web is a convenience and a service which GRTI looks forward to offering its customers. The CSX and Switchmaxx solution will also offer the latest in advanced voicemail/email integration.
"Gila River's success in attracting major enterprises to its business parks and communities is inspirational. It has been a pleasure to partner with GRTI in building an advanced network that will deliver the latest in next-generation services utilizing our next-gen products, CSX and Switchmaxx," said Mel Ethem, vice president of sales, CopperCom.
CopperCom's Converged Switching eXchange (CSX) Switching System is field-proven and capable of delivering applications ranging from greenfield deployments and cap-and-replace of legacy systems to advanced service delivery over packet networks. The CSX offers advanced VoIP services, legacy voice services, and personalized control of features via the recently launched Switchmaxx Unified Self-Care Web portal and applications. The CSX's flexibility, architectural scalability and robust feature set make it the softswitch solution of choice for IOCs and CLECs alike.
