Serena Software Scores as SD Times 100 Winner for Fourth Consecutive Year; SD Times Recognizes Serena as Leader in Inaugural ''Software Configuration Management and Change Management'' Category
Business Wire, June 1, 2006
SAN MATEO, Calif. -- Serena Software, Inc., the Change Governance(TM) leader, today was named an SD Times 100 winner for its leadership and innovation in shaping the software development industry. Serena won in the first-ever "Software Configuration Management and Change Management" category, a new award created to more accurately reflect the fundamental changes that the IT industry is experiencing.
Serena has won the SD Times 100 every year since the inception of the awards. This year Serena is recognized for developing the Eclipse Foundation's Application Lifecycle Framework (ALF) project, an effort to standardize Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) processes. Serena's ALM suite enables Change Governance across the application lifecycle from inception through implementation and enforcement such that organizations can turn change events into business advantage.
"The winners of this year's SD Times 100 awards have demonstrated their leadership in shaping the software development industry," said David Rubinstein, Editor-in-Chief of SD Times. "We took into account each nominee's products and services, its reputation among development managers, and the new ideas it brought out. These select individuals and organizations are the ones we've identified as helping to move the art of development forward."
Serena has been helping companies manage IT change for over 25 years and is recognized by IDC as the largest software provider focused exclusively on change. Serena offers a new approach to change, Change Governance, which integrates the development, implementation, and adoption of enterprise-wide policies and processes that extend across organizational silos to help companies mitigate the risks and maximize the benefits associated with business change. Serena's Change Governance solutions and services enable customers to understand the impact of change before it happens and implement and enforce effective business processes against a backdrop of regulatory compliance, competitive pressures and globalization.
Initiated by Serena in the spring of 2005, the ALF Project addresses a critical problem facing developers, technology vendors and enterprises alike -- integrating Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) technologies so that they provide full interoperability. ALF deploys the popular Eclipse development platform, using an open source framework that allows vendors to tightly integrate entire ALM suites or individual ALM products. This makes it easier to manage application changes across the lifecycle.
"We are honored that our hard work and passion to drive the industry towards an integrated and open solution with ALF is being recognized," said Mark Woodward, CEO of Serena Software. "This innovative approach will ensure more success for developers and, most importantly, our customers who look to us for help in using change as a catalyst for realizing transformative business results."
The 4th Annual SD Times 100 was published in the June 1, 2006 issue of BZ Media's SD Times (www.sdtimes.com), the twice-monthly newspaper of record for the software development industry. Serena earned placement on the SD Times 100 last year in the "Collaboration" category for its innovative technology strategy and framework, Serena's Application Framework for Enterprises (SAFE(TM)).
