Palmer & Harvey Helps Retailers Increase Sales by 30% with JDA Software; JDA Portfolio Category Management Solutions Boost Palmer & Harvey's Retail Sales Between 5 and 10%
Business Wire, June 14, 2006
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- JDA(R) Software Group Inc. (Nasdaq:JDAS) announced that JDA Portfolio(R) Category Management applications have helped Palmer & Harvey McLane Ltd., the United Kingdom's No. 1 wholesale distributor with annual sales of $6.6 billion, increase sales in some of its retail outlets by up to 30 percent in less than a year. JDA's category management solutions also have improved Palmer & Harvey's own grocery category sales between 5 and 10 percent, and helped them to strengthen their relationship with their suppliers and build trust with their retail customers.
According to Dennis Scott, marketing manager for P&H Symbol, P&H identified two key considerations for implementing a category management solution. The first was to find a product that integrated with its existing systems and its retail and trading partners' systems. Next, P&H needed better visibility into financial information within specific store plans so that retailers could see the implications of changing their layouts.
"We recognized that JDA's Category Management applications, including Space Planning by Intactix(R) and Planogram Converter by Intactix(R), are the industry standard for helping manufacturers achieve results, so it was an obvious choice for P&H to select JDA," Scott said.
As a result of the implementation, Palmer & Harvey also reports a number of other benefits that include:
--More efficient and precise ordering process
--Enhanced merchandising and presentations in stores
--Fewer product returns
--Reduced inventory costs
Stated Arnaud Decarsin, JDA's managing director of Europe, Middle East and Africa, "Palmer & Harvey provides yet another excellent example of how JDA's category management solutions deliver real results. By utilizing our functionally rich space management applications, Palmer & Harvey is gaining a competitive advantage from more precision merchandising. The most widely used space planning solutions are supporting better planogram execution at the store level that in turn is enabling increased sales and enhanced customer satisfaction with their suppliers and retail customers."
Rapid Implementation Enables Quick Return on Investment
According to Scott, P&H went from zero space plans in 2004 to 2,500 planograms in 2005. Just four months after licensing JDA's software, P&H fully launched a service of providing planograms to its retail customers at Pro-retail 2005, the United Kingdom's leading trade show for independent retailers.
"We deal with many different store sizes, demographics, and so on. With JDA's solutions, the ability to work with multiple plans is brilliant," Scott said. "Now we can efficiently handle a tremendous amount of variables and the complexity of addressing our customers' individual requirements."
Scott added that JDA's space planning applications provide P&H with a dynamic platform on which to create flexible, visual viewpoints. Independent retailers can see what the actual store shelf should look like, including three-dimensional images of each product.
"JDA's solutions have proven to be an added incentive and useful tool for independent retailers to work with us," Scott said. "Our customers see increased sales and we see an increase in our business as well."
