Alltel and AtomFilms® Launch Film Contest for Wireless Phone Users; Contest on AtomFilms Site Challenges Consumers to Submit Films Shot on Wireless Phones; Top 10 Entries Receive Prizes Ranging from $1,000 to $5,000
Business Wire, June 15, 2006
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Alltel Wireless (NYSE:AT), America's largest network, and Atom Entertainment Inc.(TM), the broadband entertainment leader, today announced a new contest on the AtomFilms Web site (www.atomfilms.com) calling on consumers to submit original short films. The contest invites wireless phone users to submit video clips, filmed on their wireless handset, featuring their circle of friends and family.
The contest's "Are You Circle Worthy" theme is tied to the recent launch of Alltel's exclusive "My Circle" calling feature. "My Circle" enables Alltel Wireless customers to receive free unlimited calls to and from their "My Circle" numbers any time of day. Customers on select rate plans can choose any combination of wireless, home and office numbers located anywhere in the U.S., regardless of local phone company or wireless carrier.
"We're pleased to be working with Alltel to give mobile consumers an opportunity to show their entertaining mobile videos to millions of viewers on AtomFilms.com," said Scott Roesch, VP and GM of AtomFilms. "This is our first contest for video shot on mobile phones, and we are excited to see the innovative and creative content that is submitted."
"Just as 'My Circle' gives consumers unprecedented control over who they can call for free, AtomFilms gives filmmakers unparalleled control in their creativity to produce short films," said Laura Cook, senior vice president of marketing communications at Alltel Wireless. "The 'My Circle' exclusive feature has immediately changed the landscape of wireless calling plans, and we believe short films shot by wireless users will be the wave of the future."
Entries to the contest will be accepted at http://alltel.atomfilms.com until 11:59 p.m. PST on July 10. Ten entries will be selected on the basis of best interpretation of the "Are You Circle Worthy" theme, artistic technique and production quality. All 10 finalists will win $1,000 and have their short films posted on AtomFilms. Between Aug. 15 and Aug. 28 consumers will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite of the 10 chosen finalists. The Grand Prize winner will be announced on Sept. 19, winning a Grand Prize of $5,000. Complete contest rules and details of film submission, can be found at http://alltel.atomfilms.com .
Alltel is a customer-focused communications company with more than 15 million customers in 37 states and nearly $10 billion in annual revenues.
