Guy Carpenter Wins 2006 Oracle® Spatial Excellence ''Innovator Award'' For i-aXs™ Online Risk Management Platform; Groundbreaking Platform Leverages Geospatial Technology to Help Insurance Executives Make Faster, Better-Informed Decisions
Business Wire, June 21, 2006
NEW YORK -- Guy Carpenter & Company, Inc., the leading global risk and reinsurance specialist and a part of the Marsh & McLennan Companies (NYSE: MMC), today announced that it has been named 2006 winner of the Oracle(R) Spatial Excellence "Innovator of the Year" Award in recognition of its Gradient Analysis Tool, one of the portfolio management tools offered as part of its revolutionary i-aXs(TM) online risk management platform.
The Oracle Spatial Innovator Award recognizes the organization that has demonstrated innovation in the use of geospatial technology. The award is one of Oracle's annual Spatial Excellence Awards presented during this year's International Oracle Spatial Users Conference in Tampa, Florida on April 27. This year, Guy Carpenter & Company was acknowledged for contributing to the advancement of mainstream enterprise solutions using geospatial technology.
i-aXs incorporates state-of-the-art geospatial technology to give insurance executives immediate access to their own exposure data, as well as a wealth of customizable imaging, tracking, analysis and reporting tools that allow them to make better and faster risk management decisions from their desktops. The Gradient Analysis Tool, part of the suite of portfolio management solutions, shows the relative impact to the losses of a client's portfolio at a specific risk level by geographic area.
"These tools elevate our clients' decision-making ability to a truly superior level, thanks in large part to the power that we were able to offer through Oracle. We are proud to be honored with the Oracle Spatial Innovator Award, and we would like to thank Oracle for this recognition," said Ryan Ogaard, Managing Director and Global Leader of Guy Carpenter's Instrat(R) unit.
"The seamless application of spatial analysis with business applications enables better decision making and more profitable enterprises," said James Steiner, Senior Director, Oracle Server Technologies. "Guy Carpenter's innovative use of Oracle Spatial 10g, including the vector and georaster services, enables them to integrate years of risk analysis, catastrophe modeling, and near real time data into a state of the art, operational portfolio management system for their insurance clients."
"i-aXs is a true breakthrough that gives clients a virtually unprecedented ability to track risk exposure data in real time, and the Gradient Analysis Tool further enhances our portfolio management capabilities," said Shajy Mathai, Senior Vice President of Guy Carpenter and architect of the Gradient Tool. "With this tool, clients can develop a realistic underwriting strategy that allows them to plan their business growth and attrition in a more formalized, detailed and effective way."
