Cirronet Unveils Class I, Div. 1 Wireless Ethernet Bridges

Business Wire, June 22, 2006

DULUTH, Ga. -- Cirronet has expanded its popular line of SEM wireless Ethernet bridges with three new devices that are UL-approved for deployment in Class I, Div. 1 areas, which include such hazardous locations as oil fields, gasoline refineries and coal mines.

The three products, all of which offer 10/100Base-T Ethernet connectivity, are:

--SEM910-HL (for "hazardous location"), based on the company's SEM910 and offering 900 MHz operation at 172 Kbps

--SEM2410-HL, based on the SEM 2410, with 2.4 GHz operation at 460 Kbps

--SEM2411-HL, based on the SEM 2411, also 2.4 GHz, with transmission at 1.23 Mbps

"Our established SEM products have helped advance wireless Ethernet in a variety of factory and industrial settings," said Tim Cutler, Cirronet vice president of marketing. "With the new hazardous location versions, systems integrators and network designers can take wireless Ethernet connectivity to even the most hazardous environment."

Each of the new hazardous location SEM products is UL-approved for Class I, Div. 1 Groups B, C and D. All feature enclosures with windows for viewing status indicators, and an innovative gas-tight RF connection system allows antennas to be mounted remotely from the SEM. A standard RJ-45 Ethernet connector mates the SEM inside the enclosure, simplifying installation, and all operate at 9 VDC to 24 VDC. The products are available now from Cirronet.
