TagWorld and New Line Cinema Declare Two Winners for ``Snakes on a Plane'' Film and Soundtrack Contest; Captain Ahab Wins Song Placement in Film and on Soundtrack; Runner-up Louden Swain's Song to Appear on Soundtrack

Business Wire, June 22, 2006

SANTA MONICA, Calif. -- Social Networking site TagWorld (www.tagworld.com) and New Line Cinema today announced Los Angeles-based band, Captain Ahab, as the official winner of the "Snakes on a Plane" soundtrack contest. Captain Ahab's song "Snakes on a Brain" beat out nearly 500 entries for the coveted placement in the film and on the "Snakes on a Plane" soundtrack.

In addition, New Line Cinema took the contest one step further and named Louden Swain the runner up, securing placement of their song "Here Come The Snakes" on the film's soundtrack to be released by New Line Records on Aug. 18.

"Snakes on a Plane" - which opens August 18 - has attracted a growing fan base both on and offline. Much like the film, the TagWorld-hosted contest took the Net by storm, leading hundreds of artists to submit their music for the chance to have their song featured in "Snakes On A Plane" and on the film's official soundtrack. The TagWorld community then voted on submitted tracks and narrowed the competition down to 25 finalists. From there, the "Snakes on a Plane" filmmakers chose the two finalists: Captain Ahab's winning selection, "Snakes on a Brain," and Louden Swain's "Here Come The Snakes." Both songs can be heard at www.tagworld.com/snakesonaplane.> "Congratulations to both Captain Ahab and Louden Swain," says Jason Linn, Executive Vice President of New Line Music. "The response to this contest was overwhelming and both artists delivered on the tremendous challenge that New Line and TagWorld offered. We're all delighted to see two deserving underground bands get the attention they deserve."

"Our faith in Hollywood is fully restored," said the members of Captain Ahab in a statement. "By pairing the greatest film of all time with the greatest song of all time, David Ellis and the executives at New Line Cinema have surpassed all previous expectations of human endeavor."

"This contest was a great way to engage the TagWorld community and discover new artists along the way. We were really impressed with the creativity of the two winning TagWorld artists as well as the hundreds of others who submitted songs for the contest and look forward to doing more contests in this vein," says TagWorld President Evan Rifkin.

"Snakes on a Plane" stars Samuel L. Jackson as an FBI agent assigned to escort a government witness on a flight to Los Angeles. But when a crimelord sets loose hundreds of deadly snakes during the flight, the agent must band together with the pilot, crew and passengers in a desperate attempt to survive and protect his witness. In addition to Jackson, "Snakes on a Plane" features an ensemble cast that includes Julianna Margulies ("ER," "The Sopranos"), Kenan Thompson ("Saturday Night Live") and David Koechner ("Anchorman," "The Office") and is directed by David Ellis ("Final Destination 2," "Cellular").
