FOLSOM, Calif. -- The first significant heat wave of the year appears to be strengthening, with triple digit heat expected over much of California through the early part of next week. Temperatures as high as 110 in the Central Valley will result in high electricity demand and may impact power supplies. The California ISO is extending the PowerWatch through Monday, June 26, urging consumers to practice conservation habits through Monday at 7:00 p.m. in order to reduce the strain on the power grid and prevent electrical emergencies. Energy demand on Monday is forecast to be close to the ISO all time record peak of 45,431 megawatts, set on July 20, 2005.
