Norcal Vows to Fight San Jose Indictment; Company Innocent of Charges

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Following an indictment obtained today from the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office, in which Norcal Waste Systems was named along with Mayor Ron Gonzales, the company said it would vigorously fight the charges.
The company issued the following statement:
"Norcal Waste Systems denies any wrongdoing in connection with its bid for a garbage and recycling contract with the City of San Jose. Norcal committed no crime, either in the bidding process or in performance of the contract.
"Norcal will contest these charges vigorously and the company expects to be vindicated in court.
