Avocent Introduces Industry's Only NIAP Approved USB Secure Switch; Government Users Can Switch between Computers without Compromising Security

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- Avocent Corporation (NASDAQ: AVCT) today announced the Avocent SwitchView(R) SC4 UAD switch, the industry's first secure KVM switch to feature USB support, with validation by the National Information Alliance Partnership (NIAP). It joins the Avocent family of SwitchView SC switch appliances as the industry's only secure KVM switch product line approved by NIAP Common Criteria to EAL 4. Designed specifically for classified information applications, this latest switch provides four ports, each with its own secure channel.

The SwitchView SC4 UAD KVM switch allows users to safely access the console ports from up to four computers, each operating at any level of information classification, while switching from just one keyboard, monitor and mouse. USB support allows more simplified connectivity to new computers that now come standard with only USB ports.

Audio support is provided, as is support for both analog and digital video, to allow the user to operate either analog or digital monitors from the same connector. High quality digital video, along with sound, results in more effective reviewing and reporting on sensitive data such as maps, satellite images and schematics.

Each fully secure channel of the SwitchView SC4 UAD KVM switch is isolated to over 60db and supports DVI-I (digital video interface-integrated) video connections that provide 1920x1200 video resolution. The switch clears the keyboard buffer immediately after data is transmitted through it so no data is ever left in the switch.

A PS/2 version of the SwitchView SC4 UAD KVM switch, without audio support, will be available next month. The entire Avocent SwitchView SC family of KVM switches is NIAP Common Criteria validated to EAL 4. Avocent is a GSA schedule contractor, number GS-35F0264K.
