IDT Network Search Engines Help Chelsio Accelerate Networking, Storage and Clustering at 10 Gigabit Ethernet; IDT Network Search Engines Help Improve Overall System Performance While Reducing Latency in Chelsio 10 Gigabit Ethernet Adapters
Business Wire, June 27, 2006
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- IDT(TM) (Integrated Device Technology, Inc.) (NASDAQ:IDTI), a leading provider of vital semiconductor solutions, today announced that Chelsio Communications has chosen to incorporate IDT network search engines (NSEs) into its T210 and T204 10GbE TCP/IP offload engine (TOE) reference designs targeted at server and storage systems. The Chelsio reference designs rely heavily on the feature rich IDT NSEs to allow mutual customers' end designs more flexibility as well as the ability to utilize more CPU cycles for data center, networking storage and high performance cluster computing (HPCC) applications. The IDT NSEs also allow the Chelsio designs to increase bandwidth, improve overall performance, optimize available power budget and reduce message latency in a cost effective manner.
The IDT NSEs easily integrate into Chelsio-based designs by hooking up to the main TCP/IP offload engine application specific integrated circuit (ASIC). By offloading the compute-intensive functions, server and storage customers can focus their resources on value-added services enabling faster time-to-market. The Chelsio board-level products process complex communications protocols at 10Gbps rates, allowing host servers and storage systems to dramatically increase both application performance and communications bandwidth. The Chelsio T210 and T204 10GbE adapter products have taken advantage of the IDT NSEs performance to achieve record setting performance for both IPv6 and IPv4 networks and in both single-stream and multi-stream categories.
"Of the many NSEs we evaluated for our TOE reference designs, IDT was the only company who offered NSEs with comprehensive customer support in conjunction with a wide portfolio enabling us to meet our power, performance and cost targets. The IDT NSEs exceeded our performance requirements and the cost compelling solution made it a perfect match for our reference design," said Kianoosh Naghshineh, president and CEO, Chelsio Communications. "The use of the IDT NSE on the Chelsio TOE offloads a well-defined compute-intensive function that allows our customers to free up their CPU resources to concentrate on their core competencies."
Scott Sarnikowski, vice president and general manager of the IDT IP co-processor division, said, "Leveraging the Chelsio 10 GbE TOE solution with the IDT NSE provides our customers with new levels of performance that can reduce the overall complexities and costs associated with a dynamic storage solution. Chelsio is a pioneer in delivering TOE reference designs for the server and storage markets. We are excited to be aligned with Chelsio and inclusion in the Chelsio reference design illustrates the strength of our high-performance NSE devices to serve tomorrow's server and storage needs."
