Watch Out Spielberg and Weinstein - Bolt Media Announces Winner of Its First Annual Film Festival; Panasonic DVX 100 is Found to Be Most Coveted Camera by Filmmakers on Bolt.com

Business Wire, June 28, 2006

NEW YORK -- Bolt Media http://www.bolt.com/1mff today announced the winner of its first annual One Minute Film Festival, entitled Eggs. Hundreds of talented filmmakers debuted their short film online for a chance to win the $5,000 grand prize, and in the end a comedy - about what eggs in the refrigerator really think about - was named the victor.

"This is a great opportunity for up-and-coming filmmakers to get genuine feedback from other talented people in the industry. Short films are the fastest growing and one of the most popular forms of entertainment on the web today," said Aaron Cohen, CEO of Bolt Media. "Today's Internet users are creating, collecting and consuming content, and debuting movies online is a natural progression in the user-generated content movement."

Filmmakers were encouraged to submit as many entries for as many different genres as they wanted. The categories included: action/sports, animation/flash, art experimental, comedy, documentary, as well as music/concert.

The finalist, Dane Boedigheimer, a 27 year-old from Bakersfield, CA - has been making films since he was 12, and says he posts on www.bolt.com primarily for the feedback from other creative and talented people. "One reason I use Bolt is because of the community. I have received amazing feedback from so many people, and everyone is really friendly and cool," said Boedigheimer. "The people who run the site are also members, and you can talk with them and joke around. That's something that many sites such as Myspace are lacking."

A survey of the participating film makers revealed that the Panasonic DVX-100 is the camera that most of the online film makers 'wish' they had. Canon's XI2 came in a close second followed by Sony's digital recorder.

"Panasonic is delighted that the festival's up-and-coming filmmakers have selected the AG-DVX100 as the camera they most desire. The DVX100 is an affordable, 24p, 3-CCD camcorder that produces beautiful film-like images and is a proven performer with hundreds of independent movies to its credit," said Jan Crittenden, product line business manager, Panasonic Broadcast & Television Systems Co.

The entry period for Bolt's next One Minute Film Festival is expected to begin in January, 2007. Bolt members create and proliferate content throughout the Internet in order to expose their work to large audiences for feedback.

Founded in 1996, Bolt has evolved into a creative network focused on helping 16-34 year old find an audience and get feedback. To view the winning film as well as the other finalists, visit http://www.bolt.com/1mff
