Integration Launches a Range of Pre-Certified IEEE802.15.4/ZigBee™ Compliant Modules

Business Wire, June 5, 2006

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. & SURREY, England -- Based on IAI's CompXs Technology, Integration Associates (IAI) Today Announced a Family of Pre-Certified Modules Designed to Shorten the Time-to-Market for Designers Building 802.15.4/ZigBee Products

Integration Associates, manufacturer of low cost, high performance analog solutions for wireless and wireline data communications, and of the OEM 802.15.4/ZigBee USB Dongle, has today further expanded its EZLink(TM) wireless product line to include a number of 802.15.4/ZigBee modules. The EZLink product line is aimed at OEMs looking to reduce R&D cost, reduce time-to-market, and minimize development risks.

The new EZLink modules are 37x22mm and based around pre-certified IEEE 802.15.4 radios operating in the 2.4GHz band. The module is supplied in two different versions including a full-function embedded ZigBee module, and a serially interfaced AT command set embedded ZigBee module. All modules hold the official ZigBee certification.

Michael Gershowitz, Director of Product Marketing from Oki Semiconductor, said, "We are thrilled that by providing a family of hardware modules based on Oki's ARM7 MCU, Integration has given our mutual customers a powerful platform that shatters the performance limitations of conventional 8-bit MCU-based ZigBee solutions and enables the development of new products to meet the needs of more demanding application areas."

The full-function embedded ZigBee module, IA OEM-DAMD1 2400, provides a pre-certified 'ZigBee Compliant Platform' with the home controls stack profile, and can be configured as a coordinator, a router, or an end device. The module supports multiple sleep modes and full 128bit authentication. A full ZigBee API is available through an RS232 Bisync serial interface.

For existing equipment, a wireless ZigBee connection can be added through a serial interface version of the module, the IA OEM-DAMD2 2400. This adds a private serial port profile on top of 'ZigBee Compliant Platform' thus allowing RS232 links to be run transparently across a ZigBee network. The device is controlled by way of simple 'AT' commands.

"The concept of offering customers fully certified modules that are accessible through industry standard interfaces is very powerful," said Rafi Fried, General Manager of the Wireless Business Unit at Integration. "Designers can feel at ease that they can manufacture best in class ZigBee certified end products in an extremely short period of time."
