SunGard Availability Services Information Security Expert Discusses Effective Incident Response; Gartner IT Security Summit 2006 Session Reviews Best Practices in Incident Response Strategies including Security Forensics

Business Wire, June 5, 2006

WASHINGTON -- A top information security expert from SunGard Availability Services will lead a session on how organizations can develop strategies and supporting tactics for responding to security incidents against information technology (IT) systems at the Gartner IT Security Summit 2006 in Washington, D.C., which takes place June 5 to 7, 2006.

Ron Schlecht, manager, information security professional services at SunGard Availability Services, will present "Laying the Appropriate Organizational and Procedural Groundwork for Effective Incident Response" on June 6 at the conference. The session will examine the steps required to develop a clear strategy for incident response, looking at business, technical and compliance issues.

"Security breaches are on the rise, threatening confidential information of business and consumers across the globe, and costing organizations millions of dollars per incident," said Mr. Schlecht. "Security incident response has historically been executed at the technical level within a company. From initial diagnosis to forensic examination, key business units and leaders must also be involved to work effectively and efficiently to bring issues to resolution."

SunGard Availability Services provides a portfolio of information security services, including firewall and enterprise risk, intrusion detection and vulnerability protection solutions that help shore up organizational defenses and reduce risk. Specific to incident response, SunGard has deep experience in working with customers to develop well-defined policies for handling security incidents and effective approaches to security forensics.
