GM Certifies and Approves New ARKONA Initiatives; RIM and RAPID Interfaces Lower Parts Management Costs and Improve Efficiencies
Business Wire, June 6, 2006
SALT LAKE CITY -- ARKONA Inc. (OTCBB: ARKN), the leader in supplying fully integrated on-demand business management solutions to automotive and powersports dealerships, announced today that integration approval had been received from General Motors for its Retail Inventory Management (RIM) and RAPID systems. As a direct result, GM has listed ARKONA as a certified dealer solution provider for all required dealer integration points.
ARKONA RIM Integration
RIM is a new program from GM's Service and Parts Operations for all GM dealers that provides automatic management of parts inventory. Dealers using ARKONA's DMS can now fully transfer information from its parts inventory system to GM's Retail Inventory Management (RIM) program. By the end of 2007, GM expects to have its approximately 8,000 U.S. and Canadian dealers using its Retail Inventory Management (RIM) system, which relies on intelligence gleaned from nationwide parts sales to recommend parts-restocking policies at dealerships.
"We recently went live with RIM in the ARKONA environment and found it to be a very seamless installation without any flaws," said Paul LaFlamme, parts manager, Tulley Pontiac Buick GMC - Nashua, N.H. "We are extremely happy with the professionalism and support provided us throughout the implementation process. Other ARKONA dealers planning to go with RIM can expect a smooth transition as they move to the next level in parts management."
ARKONA RAPID Integration
RAPID is a dealer's main communications link to GM Parts for ordering and maintaining parts inventory. In conjunction with ARKONA's DMS, RAPID offers three main functions: order placement, inquiries and returns; a National Parts Locator; and an electronic mail and messaging service, called the RAPID Bulletin Board System (BBS). ARKONA's integration to RAPID provides a dealer's parts department with a link to the GM Pulsat satellite. Through this link, dealers can order parts, inquire on ordered parts, and return parts.
"RAPID is running great on the ARKONA system and it is already making a big difference in our daily operations," stated Randy Harrison, service director, Mark Miller Pontiac Buick - Salt Lake City. "During the integration process, ARKONA has been outstanding to work with. The technical support was phenomenal as this new parts ordering and inventory system was put in place."
"ARKONA is committed to across-the-board factory communications integration with GM. The new RIM and RAPID interfaces are available to all ARKONA dealers beginning July 1, 2006," said Rich Holland, president, ARKONA Inc. "ARKONA's engineering team worked expeditiously with GM to provide seamless integration to these initiatives which are designed to decrease costs and improve administrative efficiencies in the dealer's parts department."
