Pinnacle Systems Unveils Next-Generation Dazzle Video Capture and TV Viewing Products; New Dazzle products make it easy for consumers to preserve and enjoy videos on DVD, mobile devices
Business Wire, March 1, 2006
TEWKSBURY, Mass. -- Avid Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: AVID) today announced two new product lines available from its consumer division, Pinnacle Systems. With the new Dazzle(R) video capture line, consumers can record video content from camcorders, VCRs or TVs and enjoy it on a variety of devices, including DVD players, Sony PSPs or Apple Video iPods. The new Dazzle TV line offers customers a simple and inexpensive way to watch TV on their PCs.
"Demand for mobile devices that have video capabilities continues to skyrocket, and consumers are looking for easy-to-use applications that can both manage and transfer video content to these portable products," said Jeff Hastings, Pinnacle Systems general manager and Avid vice president. "Our new Dazzle line allows customers to capture any video content, including TV programs, and transfer it to a range of devices - like PSPs, Video iPods, and DVDs. Essentially, we're taking the guesswork out of moving media from one device to another, so consumers can load their favorite videos and television programs onto their mobile devices, and then view the content wherever - and whenever - they want to."
Product Family Overview
The Dazzle video capture line includes three products: DVD Recorder, Video Creator, and Video Creator Platinum, each designed to serve specific consumer needs. The brand new Dazzle TV line, based on the expertise Pinnacle has built with its PCTV(TM) hardware and software products, is a complete solution for people who want to use their computers to watch TV or turn their PCs into Personal Video Recorders (PVRs) so they can also record and time-shift TV programs. The product family includes:
--Dazzle DVD Recorder - for simple, affordable and fast DVD creation. It is a portable, universal USB device that is easy to install and use for one-click transfer of videos to DVD.
--Dazzle Video Creator - for fast, high-quality DVD creation and video editing on any PC. It includes new hardware that supports lower powered PCs and Pinnacle Studio QuickStart for easily enhancing videos into polished movies.
--Dazzle Video Creator Platinum - for DVD and mobile video (MPEG-4) creation. This product allows users to create a high-quality video that is compatible with portable media players, including Apple's Video iPod or Sony's PSP.
--Dazzle TV Mobile - for using desktop or laptop computers to watch, record and timeshift TV programs - as well as digitize old videos into DivX format.
--Dazzle TV PCI - for using a desktop computer to watch, record and timeshift TV programs - as well as digitize old videos into DivX format.
