Fortress Technologies' High Performance Security Controllers Earn Coveted Tolly Group Up-to-Spec Certification; Independent Third-Party Validates Product's High Throughput/Low Latency for Applications such as Voice, Video and Data

Business Wire, March 14, 2006

TAMPA, Fla. -- Fortress Technologies, the leader in wireless network security, today announced that its FC-X series of security controllers has been certified through The Tolly Group's stringent product testing process. The Fortress FC-X, a high-performance security appliance with Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, exceeded the pre-defined, benchmarked performance metrics set by The Tolly Group - demonstrating 1.89 Gbps of bidirectional encryption.

"During a battery of tests on the Fortress FC-X to evaluate its encryption and compression performance, the FC-X proved its robustness by maintaining high throughput even during worst-case scenarios and introduced low latency," said Kevin Tolly, president, CEO and founder of The Tolly Group. "This is ideal performance for applications that are sensitive to latency and yet demand ample bandwidth." The Tolly Group awarded the FC-X an 'Up-To-Spec' certification that demonstrates the product meets The Tolly Group's independent performance criteria.

Fortress' FC-X Security Controller is designed to provide high-performance, secure and reliable connectivity to wireless local area networks (LANs) and fixed wireless networks using Wi-Fi, WiMAX, free space optics (FSO), Military RF or satellite. Acting as a security controller, the FC-X is placed between the wireless access points/bridges and the rest of the network infrastructure and performs all critical security operations - including encryption, authentication, data integrity checking, key exchange and data compression.

"The high performance encryption characteristics demonstrated by the FC-X are ideal for high-bandwidth, low latency applications where FSO really excels - such as voice/video transmission and real-time transaction management," said Sunny Taylor, CEO and president, fSONA Systems - a major provider of optical wireless systems. "The excellent results that Fortress and fSONA have seen during extensive interoperability testing at fSONA's engineering facilities, combined with The Tolly Group's independent findings, enable us to recommend the use of the FC-X along with the SONAbeam(TM) to provide a complete package for customers requiring enhanced security solutions."

"Every sector in today's environment - both public and private - relies on wireless technologies to help extend their communications capabilities as a means to improving their operational efficiencies and effectiveness," said John Dow, vice president of business development and marketing, Fortress. "The requirements to secure those wireless networks are constantly evolving. Fortress prides itself on providing the most dependable, certified and rigorously tested wireless security solutions to government and industry. The results of The Tolly Group's review of the FC-X Security Controller underscore Fortress' commitment to this space."

The FC-X was subjected to extensive performance tests designed to measure its scalability. The Tolly Group tested all three FC-X performance configurations - FC-1500, FC-500 and FC-250 - which are upgradeable via a simple license key. Highlights of The Tolly Group tests include:

--Achieves up to 1.8 Gbps, 656 Mbps and 327 Mbps of bidirectional encryption and compression throughput for the FC-1500, FC-500 and FC-250 respectfully at maximum client load

--Maintains between 37 and 74 microseconds of average latency at 95 percent of the bidirectional maximum throughput rate for all frame sizes for an FC-1500 model
