Asigra, ONStor Team to Create Compliance Package for Remote Data Backup and Recovery; Core Consultancy Delivers First Disaster Recovery Service Based on Joint Solution
Business Wire, March 15, 2006
TORONTO -- Asigra(TM), the technology leader in agentless distributed backup and recovery software for network computing, today announced that it has partnered with ONStor, a leader in enterprise NAS Gateway solutions, to reduce the costs and complexities of protecting data across remote locations through a combination of its newly launched Televaulting 6.0 software upgrade and ONStor's Bobcat Series Enterprise NAS gateways. Core Consultancy, a premier provider of Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions for small to medium sized enterprises in the UK, is the first customer to benefit from this joint solution.
There are many business and legal repercussions if a company's data is lost, damaged or stolen. With data generated at remote offices oftentimes excluded from backups made to an enterprise's data center, businesses are at a greater risk of failing to meet compliance regulations, such as those requiring that information be stored and recoverable for a mandated period of time. If files from offsite locations cannot be recovered in observance with such legislation, severe penalties may be assessed.
Asigra Televaulting is designed to minimize these risks through enterprise-wide centralization, including backup and recovery of remote office/branch office (ROBO) data, as well as information from remote workers and laptop users. This solution, combined with the scalable performance and management simplicity of ONStor's high-throughput NAS Gateways that provide a centralized data vault, delivers a cost-effective data compliance framework that simplifies and secures system-wide data with policy-based handling features. The implementation of the Asigra/ONStor package lessens hardware and software costs for enterprises that are dependent on NAS technology for remote site storage.
"The joint Asigra/ONStor solution provides a cost-effective data compliance framework which allows organizations such as Core Consultancy's customers to implement a centralized backup and recovery strategy which quickly and easily encompasses all the data generated across the enterprise," said Gerald Sommariva, UK Managing Director of ONStor. "Because of the number and complexity of both legal and business demands placed on data policies, it is much easier for organizations to be able to manage data and deploy strategies centrally."
According to Eran Farajun, executive vice president of Asigra, "Through Core Consultancy's Core Data Safe DR service, UK SMEs are able to receive enterprise benefits of Asigra software. With the Asigra/ONStor package, Core Consultancy customers benefit from consolidated IT operations and reduced costs. The partnership's commitment to the reseller channel means that companies like Core Consultancy can deliver a reliable and excellent DR service to SME customers."
Core Consultancy uses Asigra Televaulting 6.0, to deliver enhanced functionality and new capabilities, including Oracle 10g and SQL 8.0 support, centralized mass deployment and cross-platform protection for UNIX, Linux, Windows and Mac environments.
Sharad Shaggar, MD of Core Consultancy comments, "Core Consultancy is one of the first UK service providers to deliver Asigra's new 6.0 in the UK, through our Core Data Safe service. The enhanced capabilities of Televaulting 6.0, combined with ONStor NAS gateways, means our customers are receiving the best backup and recovery service, removing any concerns over the logistics of how to protect entire remote networks at a cost-effective price. Because of the Asigra/ONStor partnership, the agentless installation is hassle-free and critical data at remote sites is secure."
Asigra eliminates many backup pain points through technology that is designed for enterprise-wide centralization, built from the ground up for superior remote office/branch office backup and recovery. Televaulting 6.0 is available as a complete software package or as an online backup utility service through service providers who license Asigra software. Televaulting is tested and certified compatible by leading infrastructure providers not to take the place of data center backup software, but to complement it for multi-site backup and recovery. Business benefits that differentiate Asigra's offering from other backup solutions include assistance in meeting remote office regulatory compliance, reduction in worldwide IT management expenditures, encrypted data "in-flight" and "at-rest" and compounded reduction of both hardware/software capital with a capacity-based licensing model.
