ATLANTA -- JBoss(R), Inc., the Professional Open Source company, and Patni Computer Systems (NYSE: PTI, BSE: PATNI COMPUT, NSE: PATNI), a global IT services provider, today announced a global partnership to offer application development and migration services to enterprises deploying solutions on the JBoss Enterprise Middleware Suite (JEMS(TM)). As a global JBoss-certified systems integrator, Patni will be fully equipped to provide the latest services and technologies based on the JEMS platform.

The partnership brings together the industry's leading open source middleware and expert IT services from a global leader to help enterprises and independent software vendors (ISVs) realize the cost advantages of open source software. JBoss and Patni will implement a Go-to-Market program that accelerates enterprise migration to JEMS. In addition, Patni's ISV Business Unit will work with ISVs to embed JEMS technologies, providing all required product lifecycle services. Together, the companies offer an easy and affordable alternative to move to the JEMS platform. Certification ensures that all JEMS-based solutions and services delivered by Patni comply to the highest quality standards established by JBoss.

Patni has a strong legacy of working with commercial software and product vendors. As part of its commitment to develop core competency in JEMS products, Patni will establish a JEMS Center of Excellence. The CoE will focus on sharing methodologies, tools and best practices that can be leveraged across different engagements, while delivering best-of-breed JEMS-based solutions and services.

Speaking on the partnership Harish Bhat, Sr. Vice President and Head of the ISV Business Unit, Patni, said, "Open Source is now mainstream and ISVs need help incorporating open source software into their products. This partnership offers ISVs a compelling value proposition, combining our domain expertise with the industry's most popular open source application platform."

Tom Cooper, Vice President of Worldwide Channels, JBoss, Inc. commented, "The combination of JEMS backed by a global leader in IT services offers enterprises a compelling, cost-effective strategy for embedding and migrating to JBoss. Both Patni and JBoss take exceptional care of customers through superior services and uncompromised quality. This partnership will further fuel the adoption of open source in the enterprise."

JEMS is the market's leading open source platform for SOA (service-oriented architecture), offering a flexible, standards-based alternative to today's pricey, monolithic commercial software stacks. JEMS products can be used alone, mixed and matched or as a whole to build applications, processes and web services that drive business agility. JEMS includes JBoss Application Server, Hibernate(R), JBoss jBPM, JBoss Portal, JBoss Rules, JBoss Transactions, JBoss Eclipse IDE, JBoss Cache and Tomcat.
