Business Wire, March 21, 2006
KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. -- SilverStorm Technologies, a leading provider of high performance interconnect solutions for clustered computing, today announced that its 9024 Edge Fabric Switches and SilverStorm 7000 Low Profile PCI-X HCAs can now proudly display the highly valued Solaris Ready Logo, and have been qualified to work with all Sun platforms. Displaying the Solaris Ready Logo assures customers that they can confidently use these switches on both UltraSPARC(R) and AMD Opteron(TM) processor-based SunFire(TM) servers.
"We are happy to award the Solaris Ready Logo to SilverStorm's products," said Dan Powers, Director, Software, Sun Microsystems, Inc. "This qualification assures SilverStorm's customers that these products can benefit from the industry leading features of the Solaris 10 OS, such as Predictive Self-Healing, Solaris ZFS (zetabyte filesystem), Solaris Dynamic Tracing (DTrace) and Solaris Containers."
SilverStorm and Sun have been working together for nearly two years, offering Sun's customers compelling HPC grid solutions under the Sun(SM) Partner Advantage Program and the Sun(SM) Customer Ready Systems (Sun CRS) program.
The Sun CRS program enables businesses to order ready-to-deploy solutions that are built to their specifications, pre-integrated and tested in Sun's factories. Comprised of flexible configurations of Sun, SilverStorm and other third-party hardware and software products, the program is designed to deliver systems that simplify and speed deployment of solutions, helping reduce total cost of ownership and improve the quality of customers' infrastructure.
