Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies Becomes an Official Partner of NASCAR; Market Leaders to Collaborate On Advancing and Applying Security Best Practices

Business Wire, March 22, 2006

CARMEL, Ind. -- Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies, a sector of leading diversified industrial firm Ingersoll-Rand Company Limited, today announced that it has been named as an official partner of the National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) for security solutions and products.

As part of the new four-year partnership, the two enterprises will collaborate to develop security best practices and explore security systems unique to the specific needs of NASCAR-owned facilities as well as speedways that host NASCAR-sanctioned races, and race team operations across North America.

Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies will draw upon its global expertise for securing spectator sporting venues and vast portfolio of security products and technologies, which ranges from Schlage(R) hardware and portable security to electronic access and biometric systems.

"Being selected as the company to keep NASCAR secure further demonstrates Ingersoll Rand's expert ability to provide comprehensive security solutions for complex environments such as outdoor sporting venues," said Dave Sylvester, president, Americas, Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies. "With more than 13 million fans, partners and employees attending NASCAR races throughout the year, NASCAR appreciates the value and critical importance of delivering a safe and secure experience for everyone. We look forward to helping NASCAR further refine and evolve overall security practices and capabilities."

"NASCAR is enthusiastic about partnering with Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies to enhance the corporate facilities and competition landscapes of NASCAR," said Tim Christine, director of security for NASCAR. "Ingersoll Rand and NASCAR both are industry leaders which embrace security solutions through the use of technology, and both organizations will benefit from our partnership."

Already the new partnership is delivering results. NASCAR and Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies collaborated to produce a manual defining security best practices, which has been issued to more than 150 security directors in the motor sports industry and other major spectator sports organizations. At last month's Daytona 500, Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies worked with NASCAR to develop a custom security system comprised of cameras, digital video recorders, and lighting technology at the track where official race tires are stored prior to the event. The system was implemented to provide a digital record of access to specific key competition areas of the facility during the race weekend.
