Montreal-based Singer-Songwriter Chantal Chamandy Pioneer in Recent Google Video Launch
Business Wire, March 25, 2006
LOS ANGELES -- Montreal-based Singer-Songwriter Chantal Chamandy and her record label Ninemuse Entertainment have taken notice of the latest innovative creation launched by Google -- Google Video, which launched early last year. It's already attracted several prime-time and classic hits from CBS, full games from the NBA, music videos from SONY BMG, Charlie Rose interviews and more. Google Video is the first open video marketplace where any video producer, large or small, can upload their content and distribute it for free or at a price. iPod and Sony Playstation Portable users will also be able to download and watch any non-copy-protected content from Google Video, and even get it specially optimized for playback on their devices.
By uploading her videos onto Google, Chamandy is now searchable to a worldwide audience as well as the regular traffic to Google.com. Chamandy's Billboard Dance Club Play hit "You Want Me" can be viewed on Google video here http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid= -9221368482439588632&q=chantal chamandy, as well as videos for the remix to the song along with the thoroughly passionate duet "Feels Like Love," a duet with former Gipsy Kings member Chico Castillo.
With the U.S. release of debut album "Love Needs You" slated to street in Summer 2006, Chamandy blends the exotic heritage of her Alexandria, Egypt, origins with dramatic multi-cultural influences. Chamandy has been building organic momentum generated at London's hottest clubs, via radio airplay and heavy video rotation on MTV-U.K. and The Box, "You Want Me" landed on Billboard's Dance breakout chart at #4 in early January.
For the week ending March 25, the radio mix of her popular lead single "You Want Me" -- a Top 5 dance hit on British charts last summer, and #1 on DJ In The Mix -- is #16 on the Billboard Dance Club Play Chart. It has risen from its debut position of #43 in only seven weeks. Immediately upon its release to U.S. radio, "You Want Me" shot to #1 Most Added on FMQB's Hot AC chart, held its position for two weeks in a row and is now #15.
