Revivio Introduces Application Integration Suite - Enabling the Future of Data Protection; New Software Tool Increases Application Availability, Improves Operational Efficiency, Reduces Costs and Helps Customers Meet Compliance Regulations
Business Wire, March 28, 2006
LEXINGTON, Mass. -- Revivio(R), Inc., a leading provider of data protection solutions, today announced general availability of its Application Integration Suite (AIS), powerful new software that helps customers automate data protection and recovery processes - from nightly backups to full disaster response.
Revivio's AIS software provides application-specific automated recovery through tight integration with the Revivio Continuous Protection System (CPS). Application-specific knowledge modules enable automated data protection for a wide variety of applications such as Oracle, Sybase, and MS-SQL databases, Microsoft Exchange, and Lotus Notes. AIS also interfaces with popular backup software solutions such as Net Backup, NetWorker and Galaxy to archive data recovery points.
Since its introduction almost three years ago, Revivio's Continuous Protection System has supported instant recovery of individual objects, such as files and email - and has offered instant access to finely granular recovery points based on operational, environmental, and application-specific events. Taking advantage of this powerful breakthrough technology, the AIS software now fully automates all aspects of recovery - from simply restoring emails and files, to testing complex remote disaster recovery (DR) capabilities and assuring compliance with disaster recovery plans - creating for the first time a seamless and transparent portal between primary and secondary data storage.
Additionally, the combination of the AIS and Revivio's breakthrough "Pure-CDP" technology now uniquely offers the ability to recover loosely-coupled applications spanning multiple servers - allowing instant recovery of an entire computing environment rather than being limited to supporting individual applications.
"The concept of using CDP to feed longer term storage is brilliant," said Steve Duplessie, founder and senior analyst with the Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG). "Making integration with existing processes and applications painless will be key to widespread adoption. Revivio's AIS hopes to do just that."
"The announcement of our landmark continuous data protection technology several years ago created an entirely new market category, and a swarm of would-be imitators," said Kirby Wadsworth, senior vice president of marketing and business development at Revivio. "AIS grew out of our real world experiences deploying CDP-based solutions in actual customer environments. With this announcement, Revivio is again raising the bar - moving beyond CDP as a technology to offer true dynamic data availability - the ability to access any data, as it existed in any previous state, from any desired location...simply, easily and now automatically."
"We believe this announcement, and Revivio's architectural approach, have far-reaching and significant implications for the entire storage industry," said David Hill, principal, The Mesabi Group. "We view CDP as the holy grail for bridging the gap between online data and secondary storage allowing future innovation efforts to focus on higher value functions such as data classification, data security, and active archiving."
"Revivio stands out among continuous data protection (CDP) vendors by offering a forward-looking provision for classification- and policy-manager modules to be provided by technical partners and/or integrators. After all, CDP itself should be applied by policy to classified data," said ProgresSmart founder, Dan Tanner.
The Revivio Application Integration Suite (AIS) is now generally available, with base functionality to be included with each Revivio Continuous Protection System (CPS).
