Business Wire, March 9, 2006
PITTSBURGH -- Wizzard Software (OTCBB:WIZD) announced today that Evolve Inc. has chosen IBM ViaVoice(R) Speech Recognition SDK to power their air traffic control voice activated proficiency training devices. With locations in Orlando and Pensacola, Florida, Evolve, Inc. is a nationally recognized management consulting firm, providing information technology, organizational development and training services to organizations throughout the United States. "I highly recommend Wizzard and their products and services," said Cedric Maddox, Chairman and CEO of Evolve, Inc. "They provided the utmost in quality products and customer responsiveness."
"ViaVoice fit very well with the functional purpose of our In Precision Approach Radar Training Device," noted Maddox.
Used to train air traffic controllers in two branches of the United States Armed Forces, Evolve Inc.'s proficiency trainer instructs the trainee on proper Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) terminology, and allows trainees to interact with the trainer using speech. Crediting IBM ViaVoice's proven and sophisticated speech recognition technology, Evolve Inc. reports that they are able to provide greater than 98% recognition within a 10 minute training period.
"Evolve Inc.'s impressive training device improves the learning experience by allowing trainees to use the intuitiveness of a speech interface to perfect their skills," said Danielle Lewis, Marketing Director for Wizzard Software. "The fact that they are able to achieve high levels of accuracy with ViaVoice adds tremendous value to the experience!"
"We are always gratified when our customers tell us that our technology offerings and our experienced and knowledgeable staff has made a difference in their products," added Lewis.
Training needs for air traffic controllers will remain steady over the next decade. According to the U.S. Department of Labor and Statistics, employment of air traffic controllers is expected to grow through the year 2014, with increasing air traffic requiring more controllers to handle the additional work. Further, more job openings are expected as the result of replacement needs from workers going into retirement.
