Array Networks' Industry Leading SSL VPN Performance Validated by Real-World Testing; Tolly Group Testing Verifies Array's High Scalability, Throughput and Low Latency
Business Wire, May 1, 2006
MILPITAS, Calif. -- Array Networks, the performance leader in SSL VPN solutions, today announced test results from The Tolly Group, a third-party information technology testing, research, and certification organization, that validates its industry leading performance metrics in SSL VPN. The test results irrefutably confirm that Array's SSL VPN SPX5000 scales to support up to 64,000 concurrent users and delivers competitive Layer 3 throughput of 850 Mbps along with single digit millisecond latency. This represents a magnitude of performance greater than Array's closest competitors.
"Our Tolly Group engineers put the SPX5000 through rigorous testing procedures and the findings clearly demonstrate that Array's solution provides ample performance to the enterprise," said President, Chief Executive Officer and founder Kevin Tolly of The Tolly Group. "Array's unparalleled performance provides large enterprises and service providers with a proven, reliable SSL solution which can scale to a large number of users without detracting from throughput and latency -- a clear benefit in this fast-developing market."
Array Networks commissioned The Tolly Group to conduct a number of scalability/performance tests, as well as to exercise a number of key features to validate device compatibilities. The Tolly Group tests show that even under eight different traffic scenarios, the SPX5000 is able to step up from 500 to 64,000 concurrent users with ease -- meaning that even as the number of users scaled, latency introduced by the gateway fluctuated nominally, by 1 millisecond at most. Even at 64,000 users, the SPX5000 introduced just 2.5 milliseconds of latency, well below levels that would adversely affect IP Communications applications like voice or video that are sensitive to delay.
Test highlights showed that Array's SPX5000 product:
--Introduces consistent single-digit latency for Layer 3 VPN tunneling while scaling users from 500 to 64,000 concurrent tunnels at different throughput load levels
--Achieves the performance, throughput (up to 850 Mbps) and capacity to meet demands imposed by growing numbers of users, devices, and applications
--Offers support for a wide variety of client platforms, browsers, PDAs, client security environments and different types of tunneling mechanisms
"As the SSL VPN space matures, performance is fast becoming a dominant driver," said Jeff Wilson, principal analyst for VPNs and security at Infonetics Research Inc. "SSL VPN has moved beyond early implementations to become an established technology for universal access, and enterprises now need to scale users. With its impressive scalability, low-latency and high processing speed, Array Networks is well-positioned to aggressively maintain its upward momentum in the SSL VPN market."
"We evaluated the competition and Array stood out clearly based on performance, security and price," said Tarron Weir, chief security officer of network operations, Hub International. "The Tolly Group report validates our internal findings and the successful implementation we've had with Array's solution."
The full Tolly Group Report will be available at INTEROP LAS VEGAS, Array Networks' Booth #613 in the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada.
