Programmer's Paradise, Inc. Plans Name Change to Facilitate Expansion into New Markets

Business Wire, May 1, 2006

SHREWSBURY, N.J. -- Programmer's Paradise, Inc. (NASDAQ: PROG) announced today its intention to change the company's parent name to Wayside Technology Group, Inc.

This new name will facilitate the pursuit of several distinct market segments. Wayside Technology Group, Inc. will operate under three divisions: Programmer's Paradise; Lifeboat Distribution; and TechXtend.

The Programmer's Paradise division will continue to focus on increased niche penetration and enhanced recognition as the leading reseller of software tools and components to the software development community. The brand is widely recognized in North America as the market leader in providing breadth of products, information, outstanding service and favorable pricing to developers.

The company's wholesale division, Lifeboat Distribution, will continue to build partnerships with emerging software publishing companies offering new IT products and technologies. Lifeboat provides a low cost entry point for extending product market reach through an extensive network of corporate resellers, VARs, consultants and systems integrators through its rapidly scalable channel service capabilities. Lifeboat provides a unique blend of technical software focused on IT infrastructure building, virtualization, science and engineering, programming and business productivity. Lifeboat will expand its product offerings to include difficult-to-source hardware lines and accessories.

TechXtend, a new division specifically focused on providing solutions and onsite services to IT organizations, will be launched under the new corporate umbrella. TechXtend will field a team of service engineers and sales professionals focused on the information technology needs of enterprise organizations relating to business continuity, disaster recovery, backup, server consolidation, development and testing.

"This change in our company name signals to the market our identity as a unified and integrated technology company," noted Simon Nynens, president and CEO of Programmer's Paradise, Inc. "The re-naming of the company will provide us with greater flexibility to continue to build on our strong brands while we launch new divisions focused on consultative services."

Upon approval of the new name, Wayside Technology Group, Inc., the company will change its NASDAQ stock symbol to "WSTG". Since this change will only affect the parent company name, it is expected to be implemented in a timely and cost effective manner.
