Business Wire, May 1, 2006
ATLANTA -- Fast Food Restaurant Chain Joins Growing List of Merchants Accepting PayPass "Tap & Go(TM)" Contactless Payment Technology
Arby's Restaurant Group, Inc., a leading quick service restaurant chain with more than 3,500 locations, today announced that it plans to accept MasterCard(R) PayPass(TM), an innovative contactless payment option, at registers and drive-thrus in its company-owned restaurants in the third quarter of 2006.
"This new technology is one more example of how we're striving to address our customers' needs by significantly cutting down on their transaction times," said Don Zimmerman, senior vice president and chief information officer, Arby's Restaurant Group, Inc. "Our customers are busy. The speed, ease of use and convenience of MasterCard PayPass at the register and drive-thru will improve their overall Arby's experience."
PayPass offers consumers a convenient alternative to cash by completing small ticket purchases quickly, securely and easily. Consumers no longer need to fumble for cash and coins, swipe a card, or sign a receipt for any PayPass purchase under $25 (purchases over $25 will require a signature). Users simply tap their PayPass-enabled card or device on the PayPass reader and they are on their way. Arby's customers with a MasterCard PayPass card or device can pay for purchases both in-store and at the drive-thru.
"MasterCard PayPass is a great solution for Arby's because of its emphasis on providing consumers with a fast, hassle-free experience in the restaurant," said T.J. Sharkey, vice president, U.S. Acceptance, MasterCard International. "Consumers on-the-go appreciate the added convenience PayPass offers, and at the same time, Arby's is able to increase customer throughput."
