Motricity Provides World's First Cross-Carrier Mobile Community Service; Fuel 5 Community Micropayments Enhance Mobile Application Experience While Driving Additional Sales for Publishers and Content Providers

Business Wire, May 10, 2006

DURHAM, N.C. -- Motricity, a leading global provider of mobile marketplace management solutions, today announced that its Fuel 5 Community platform is running the world's first cross-carrier mobile community service. For the first time, carriers and content providers can create interest-based mobile communities that span multiple carrier networks, resulting in increased cell phone usage and mobile content consumption. The Fuel 5 Community service includes in-application purchasing through micropayment technology that enables mobile content users to purchase additional enhancements within applications such as mobile games. In-application micropayments provide carriers and publishers with additional points-of-contact with consumers while offering a more compelling mobile experience.

As off-portal mobile content consumption increases, carriers need to improve the mobile experience while maintaining a strong competitive brand. The Fuel 5 Community service allows operators to extend their brand visibility off-portal, while offering a more competitive user experience. In addition, operators can generate rich consumer intelligence that can be used to improve content offerings and customer service.

"Mobile communities foster content discovery, communication and user interaction," said Ryan Wuerch, chairman and CEO of Motricity. "Motricity is committed to enhancing the mobile community experience for content consumers while, at the same time, leveraging the growing popularity of such communities to provide carriers and content partners with the intelligence needed to foster strong brand loyalty."

Motricity's Fuel 5 Community service drives consumption of mobile content by incorporating interactive, viral components that increase adoption rates and usage per customer. Fuel Community enables and manages mobile communities across various types of content, including games and music. Motricity's extensive relationships with over 30 leading publishers allow carriers to offer their customers a wide variety of community-enabled mobile content. Fuel 5 Community also leverages analytics to provide valuable CRM insights, including member usage patterns, demographic information and direct consumer feedback to better manage content and improve service performance.

New features of the Fuel 5 Community service include the following:

--In-game Micropayments--Incorporates in-application billing events into community-enabled content to provide consumers the opportunity to purchase enhancements (game examples include purchasing new levels, more fuel and additional players).

--Community-Generated Content Catalogs--Based on end user ratings, the Community provides content catalogs prioritized by highest-rated content, most played and most recommended.

--Single Cross-Carrier Usernames--Allows users to use a single username across all community-enabled content.

--Cross-carrier Ratings and Reviews--Employs a cross-carrier, True Rating system whereby members can rate mobile content based on a 10-point system and post comments to the Community.
