Xprima Selects EnterpriseDB for Real-Time Automotive Market Data System; Open Source Database Chosen for PostgreSQL Foundation, Performance, and Technical Support
Business Wire, May 11, 2006
ISELIN, N.J. -- EnterpriseDB, the world's leading enterprise-class, open source database company, announced today that Xprima.com Corporation, a leading provider of Internet and e-commerce solutions for the automotive industry, has selected EnterpriseDB Advanced Server to power Xprima's real-time automotive market data system. The Xprima system provides automotive dealers with a full Internet sales cycle solution, with support for pre-sales, sales, follow-up, and service activities. Xprima also powers the popular Auto123.com automotive portal, which receives more than one million visitors each month. More information about EnterpriseDB and free downloads of EnterpriseDB Advanced Server, the company's flagship product, are available at www.enterprisedb.com.
Xprima elected to deploy its new customer data aggregation application on an open source database because of the significant cost savings as compared to Sybase, the proprietary database the company had previously used. Xprima was attracted to PostgreSQL because of its legendary stability and the maturity of its enterprise-class features. The company ultimately chose EnterpriseDB Advanced Server because of its PostgreSQL foundation, its performance improvements over PostgreSQL, and the availability of inexpensive, commercial-grade technical support.
"We were delighted to find that EnterpriseDB Advanced Server was built on the very latest release of PostgreSQL, which is indicative of the company's close connection to the PostgreSQL open source community," said JP Paquin, president and chief executive officer of Xprima. "EnterpriseDB was the clear choice for us, even though we did not require Oracle compatibility, the feature for which EnterpriseDB is best known. Any enterprise considering a PostgreSQL deployment should seriously consider upgrading to EnterpriseDB."
