Language Weaver Selects Datalink and Network Appliance to Consolidate Storage; Solution Helps Decrease Time to Market and Improve Existing Products
Business Wire, May 11, 2006
CHANHASSEN, Minn. -- Datalink (Nasdaq:DTLK), an independent information storage architect, today announced that automated language translation software developer Language Weaver selected Datalink to design, deploy, and support a unified storage solution. The solution provides abundant capacity, scalability and ease of management for an environment that is growing at the staggering pace of tens of terabytes per month.
In developing its statistically based automated language translation systems, Language Weaver handles an enormous amount of data--on the order of gigabytes to terabytes--with servers accessing data 24 x 7 x 365. In order to continuously evolve its innovative technology and quickly bring new language pairs to market, Language Weaver needs ample data storage capacity to collect and process language repository data. Language Weaver engaged Datalink to help the organization keep up with its rapid growth.
After assessing Language Weaver's needs and its current infrastructure, Datalink designed and implemented a storage consolidation solution based on Network Appliance hardware and software technologies. The solution offers scalability and affordable capacity for an environment where storage needs are growing at a very fast pace. It also makes management much easier, with only one device to manage versus islands of disparate storage.
"We looked at other technologies but the Datalink/NetApp solution was the obvious choice," said William Wong, director of engineering for Language Weaver. "This system gives us a central point of access and management. And, as far as capacity, it provides a lower TCO for the maximum amount of data we want to crunch." He added, "In the execution of our IT plan, Datalink has proven to be a valuable expert in supporting our storage needs."
"Language Weaver was facing a challenging situation--one with enormous storage growth," said Scott Robinson, Datalink CTO. "We were able to provide them with a solution that offers ample and affordable capacity and meets their performance needs. This enables them to process even more data, which in turn helps them reduce time to market for new software and meet the needs of their fast-growing customer base."
