Intervoice Announces Innovative Solution for New Breed of Mobile Virtual Network Operators; Intervoice's Media Exchange Enables Value-Added MVNOs to Increase Subscriber Services
Business Wire, May 15, 2006
DALLAS -- Intervoice, Inc. (Nasdaq:INTV), a world leader in converged voice and information solutions, today announced an innovative solution that allows Value-Added Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) to more rapidly and affordably create new services for subscribers. Traditional MVNOs resell mobile services under their own company name using the network of a licensed mobile operator. A Value-Added MVNO leverages a strong, existing brand name to provide targeted content and applications to key market segments in a mobile environment. Intervoice's Media Exchange platform allows these new Value-Added MVNOs to use internal developers and third parties to deliver creative new content and applications in a uniform manner. This provides subscribers with a consistent user experience across all the services they use on their mobile devices.
Intervoice Uniquely Positioned to Offer Robust Development Platform
Intervoice Media Exchange is specifically architected to accept and integrate applications created by developers. As a result, Value-Added MVNOs will be able to integrate content and applications into the Intervoice platform on their own -- saving them a significant amount of time and money. This will also allow this new class of MVNOs to deliver even more content and applications to subscribers faster than ever before.
As services on mobile phones continue to expand from voice calling to downloading music and accessing email and general information, traditional media and entertainment conglomerates that previously only offered content are now entering the telecommunications market as a new breed of MVNOs. These Value-Added MVNOs leverage their brand and offer targeted services to an established customer base and vital market segments in a mobile environment. They possess a wealth of content and with skilled developers they can provide new custom content and applications to their subscribers.
"Consumers no longer use their mobile phones just to make calls. They rely on the device to keep informed on news and entertainment and stay connected with friends and family using email and instant messaging among other applications," said Ron Nieman, senior vice president of products for Intervoice. "The Media Exchange platform provides the ability for Value-Added MVNOs to bring a wealth of new and unique solutions to subscribers by leveraging their own developers."
Intervoice created an extensibility tool called Application Builder, which provides the ability to seamlessly add and remove VoiceXML applications to or from the Intervoice Home Zone. The patent-pending Intervoice Home Zone allows users to access content, applications, and value-added services in a single session without transfers or redialing. Once an application is incorporated into the Intervoice Home Zone using Application Builder, it takes advantage of all the voice platform capabilities including single session movement and centralized access to subscriber data.
