Avision to Enable Scanning Solutions with Adobe® PDF Scan Library; Worldwide Leader in Document Imaging to Offer Adobe's Rich Feature Set for Creating Secure, Compact, Searchable PDFs from Paper
Business Wire, May 16, 2006
NEWARK, Calif. -- Avision, a market leader in document imaging scanners and services, today announced it has signed an agreement to include Adobe(R) PDF Scan library software with Avision scanning solutions shipping worldwide. Avision currently includes Adobe Acrobat(R) Standard software with several document scanning models. Now, as part of the agreement, the rich feature set of the Adobe PDF Scan Library embedded in Avision solutions will be available along side Adobe Acrobat software for every workgroup, departmental, and production scanner across the Avision product line.
"Adobe's strategic approach to transforming paper documents into compact, secure, searchable, protected digital assets allows us tremendous flexibility in terms of how we implement their technology across our solutions portfolio," said Charlie Chou, Senior Vice President, Avision, Incorporated. "This agreement will allow us to reach further into markets where we are already established leaders and expand into new markets where paper-to-digital solutions are emerging as a core requirement for improving organizational effectiveness."
Adobe PDF files have become the de facto standard for paper-to-digital conversions within the financial services, education, energy, government, healthcare and manufacturing industries -- all of which have requirements to digitize and store the massive amounts of paper-based information produced on a daily basis. Now, with Avision solutions enabled by Adobe's PDF Scan Library, users will have more features and functionality to create, make searchable, compress, secure, share, review, and archive files as an integrated step in the organization's knowledge workflow.
"Avision has been an important force in workgroup and departmental document scanning for many years," said Dan Baum, vice president of New Business Initiatives, Adobe. "This agreement will help drive the continued adoption of scanning mission critical documents into searchable Adobe PDF format for many Avision customers around the world. Now, scanned documents will be more accessible and secure, and business processes more efficient."
The combination of Adobe technologies with Avision's market-leading scanning products gives customers the ability to scan their business critical documents directly into PDF and use Acrobat for reviewing, commenting and sharing documents inside and outside their organizations. Now, customers will have the ability to:
--Automatically convert paper documents into high quality, compact, fully searchable, secure, authentic Adobe PDF files.
--Increase document security with password protection to prevent unauthorized users from opening and viewing sensitive documents.
--Output scanned pages that are compliant with the PDF/A (ISO 19005) specification.
--Apply permissions with 128-bit encryption that control whether users are allowed to view, edit, comment, sign, or print Adobe PDF files.
--Approve final documents with digital signatures, verify authenticity and build a list of trusted certificates.
--Automatically create a list of reviewers and track whether feedback is received.
--Indicate text edits such as insertions, deletions, and replacements with a single keystroke; add custom stamps; and use sticky notes and highlights to comment on documents.
--Convert Microsoft Office application files to Adobe PDF with one button click.
--Gather comments from multiple reviewers into a single Adobe PDF file, or view them collectively in a separate window and export comments to Microsoft Word 2002 to eliminate retyping.
