ViVOtech ViVOpay 5000 Contactless Reader First to Receive Global Certification From the MasterCard PayPass™ Program; Payment Leader Achieves Product Approval for MasterCard PayPass MagStripe and OneSmart® MasterCard PayPass™ Programs
Business Wire, May 16, 2006
SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- ViVOtech, the leading supplier of contactless payment solutions, today announced that its next-generation ViVOpay 5000 is the first commercially available reader to be certified for use in the global OneSmart(R) MasterCard PayPass(TM) contactless payment program. This includes the PayPass magnetic stripe program in the United States and the OneSmart MasterCard PayPass and Pre-Authorized programs which are standard in EMV countries. This global certification assures merchants around the world that the ViVOpay 5000 adheres to the stringent usability, reliability and security requirements set forth by MasterCard.
The ViVOpay 5000 is the latest ViVOtech product to be certified by MasterCard. Other countertop contactless readers certified (in 2005), include the ViVOpay 4000 and 3000 devices. To be certified, products must be submitted to an independent lab where they are rigorously tested for software stability, card data security and interoperability. The MasterCard certification represents an industry recognized level of performance and quality which gives retailers an extra layer of confidence in their decision to partner with ViVOtech.
The MasterCard PayPass payment program is designed to provide consumers around the world with a fast and convenient way to pay. All a consumer needs to do is tap their PayPass-enabled payment card or device on a ViVOpay 5000 reader at the checkout. It's that simple.
"Momentum is building quickly in the contactless payments market as more and more consumers embrace the new way of paying," said Mick Mullagh, CEO of ViVOtech. "As a result, we foresee large demand for certified products. With verified solutions like the ViVOpay 5000, retailers can rest assured that they are buying a product that raises the bar in customer usability, performance, and security -- and a product that will be embraced by their customers."
