Verari Systems Introduces VS4000 Family of 4GB Fibre Channel Storage Arrays; Breakthrough Mid-Range Systems Provide Unmatched Total Cost of Ownership and Superior Price/Performance
Business Wire, May 16, 2006
SAN DIEGO -- Verari Systems(TM), the premier developer of powerful, platform-independent blade server and storage systems, announced today the availability of its new VS4000 family of storage systems featuring full front-end to back-end 4GB Fibre Channel connectivity. The VS4000 series storage systems combines next-generation storage processors and 4GB Fibre Channel connectivity delivering outstanding performance with the highest reliability, availability and manageability.
Utilizing powerful new storage processors, the VS4000 series features 16 drive bays within the controller module, up to eight 4GB Fibre Channel host ports and up to 4GB of cache. The increased performance and connectivity of the VS4000 series makes it the ideal solution for mid-range business and HPCC applications that require simultaneous, high performance bandwidth and I/O. By combining both Fibre Channel and SATA disk technologies into a single, cost-effective 3U system, the VS4000 series can satisfy both primary and secondary storage requirements in the most cost-effective manner. The compact chassis design saves space and reduces power and cooling requirements yet, with up to 8TB of capacity in its 3U RoHS compliant chassis, provides a small footprint with massive scalability.
"Last July, Verari Systems led the 4GB SAN market with the introduction of the high performance VS7000 storage system. Since then, many organizations have adopted VS7000 4GB SAN solutions to take advantage of the performance they offer," said David Driggers, CEO of Verari Systems. "Not all businesses or HPCC applications require the utmost in performance that the VS7000 provides, yet they are still faced with the same challenges: a method to cost effectively deliver the performance and capacity demanded by ever increasing amounts of complex data. The VS4000 series systems offer our customers an outstanding, affordable midrange option."
The VS4000 series is currently available in two models: the VS4200 with 2GB of cache, 4 host ports and support for mixed SATA and Fibre Channel drives, and the VS4400 with 4GB of cache, 8 host ports and support for mixed SATA and Fibre Channel drives. Both models can scale up to 56 terabytes of physical disk capacity using 6 VSEM storage expansion modules.
As a member of Verari Systems' VS storage systems family, the VS4000 series utilizes the same common storage management software and highly available hardware design as the high performance VS7000, providing enterprise class capabilities, but at a much lower price point.
Previous VS storage systems by Verari Systems can be upgraded data-in-place to the new, higher performance VS4000 series. In the event that future application requirements demand greater performance or scalability, the new models can be upgraded to the much more powerful VS7000. The Verari Systems VS4000 series storage systems are an affordable entry point that avoids over-configuration without sacrificing future scalability.
Both the VS4200 and VS4400 models are available for purchase today, with delivery beginning the second week of June. Several different configurations are available to match customers' requirements. For additional VS4000 series product information, visit http://www.verari.com.
