Array Networks Launches SSL VPN Flex Plan to Address Growing Need for ''Business Continuity''; Array Business Continuity Flex Plan Provides Companies Instant Assurance to Deal With Emergency or Planned Surges in Remote Access
Business Wire, May 17, 2006
MILPITAS, Calif. -- Array Networks, the scalability and performance leader in SSL VPN solutions, today announced immediate availability of the Array Business Continuity (ABC) Flex Plan(TM) for companies looking for a true remote access business continuity plan. In order to ensure business continuity, employees need to be able to access business critical applications and resources on the corporate network -- regardless of location or circumstances. Business continuity is a rapidly growing scenario requiring companies to react seamlessly to natural disasters such as avian flu or other business interruptions such as a power outage, snow storm, or seasonal events (e.g., student registration) that prevent workers from getting into the office or accessing the network. These events require a robust, fully featured and highly scalable remote access solution to avoid interruptions that can result in work stoppage, high costs and loss of revenue for businesses.
The Array Business Continuity Flex Plan has been specifically designed to address a wide range of potential business interruption events with no intervention required, i.e., no phone calls, IT interaction or advance license purchases are required. It is an insurance plan that provides instantaneous scalability of users up to system maximum capacities. Since Array's SPX SSL VPN systems scale far higher than the nearest competitor, companies have ample capacity to add users without requiring IT departments to scramble to add extra hardware or worse, to purchase additional hardware systems just to ensure needed capacity is available.
The Array Business Continuity Flex Plan can be activated anytime for a modest fee, and the customer only pays a usage fee if and when additional users access the system. For example, a surge of 1,000 concurrent users would result in a monthly charge of less than $10 per employee. Employees can be provided immediate secure access from any location to any network resource or application (i.e. universal secured access) using any device that is equipped with a browser.
Business Continuity Planning has become essential to ensure that business operations will continue during a growing range of natural disasters, emergencies and other unplanned events impacting employees' ability to get to the office. A recent Gartner report written by John Girard, Ten Remote-Access Failures Your Company Could Avoid in an Emergency, published November 2005, states that "the most critical success factor to any business continuity plan is a fast re-establishment of business processes. However, if your disaster recovery (DR) plans do not include remote-access coordination steps, no amount of cool technology will save your operations."
"Array is uniquely positioned to help companies, especially mid-size and large organizations with business continuity, due to its purpose-built architecture," says Michael Zhao, President and CEO of Array Networks. "We have an overall capacity and performance advantage that is the key to insuring the need for secure, remote access surges in times of emergency or other unanticipated business continuity events. With our greater scale and throughput and low latency at peak load, our SSL VPN systems can react seamlessly to planned or unplanned surges in users and offer customers a guaranteed lower total cost than competitive solutions."
Array Networks' SPX5000 was recently tested by the Tolly Group and demonstrated that it met the industry-leading published specifications in the key areas required to handle large company secure access requirements:
--64,000 concurrent users on a single system;
--850 Mbps throughput;
--Single digit millisecond latency under maximum throughput.
In addition, Array's SPX2000 and SPX3000 systems scale to 500 and 2,500 concurrent users respectively, eliminating the need for multiple systems or hardware changes required by the competition. This allows smaller organizations to buy less hardware, yet be assured that they can deal with business continuity easily and cost-effectively.

Another alternative to consider would be RHUB?s (http://www.rhubcom.com/) device-based TurboMeeting. It provides both firewall protection as well as the unique IP address-based access control, which makes remote access extremely secure. What adds enormous value is the multiple-capability of the system. This one system can be used for web conferencing, remote access, remote support, and webinar. The Device operates 24X7 and is self-updated; so, there are no IT maintenance overheads either.
