Visioneer Executive Vice President Named Chairman of AIIM International's Board of Directors
Business Wire, May 18, 2006
PHILADELPHIA -- Visioneer Inc., a leader in intelligent imaging solutions, today announced Don F. McMahan, executive vice president, sales & marketing, has been elected Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Association for Information and Image Management (AIIM) International, the preeminent global Enterprise Content Management Association.
McMahan has been active in AIIM International for many years; he has served as a member of the AIIM Board of Directors since 2003 and was elected Vice Chair in 2005. He is also a member of the Trade Advisory Council.
He will now serve as Chairman for a one-year term, though April 2007.
In his new role, McMahan plans to focus on a continuation of his long range strategy of making AIIM more inclusive, to support John Mancini and his team in their very successful efforts to diversify the revenue sources for the organization, and also to reach out to both vertical markets as well as the reseller channel.
"I am honored and humbled by the great show of support I have received from both Mancini and the board as well. This is a great association supported by many incredible people. I will do my best to fill the very large shoes left by the last two chairs, A.J. Hyland and Larry Wischerth, both of whom have been extremely supportive during my tenure on the board. I look forward to helping John and the board achieve our 2006 goals as we continue to grow the association and our influence in the market," said Don McMahan, Executive Vice President, Visioneer.
"Don brings to the post of chair a rich history of industry experience," notes John Mancini, president of AIIM. "Two aspects of Don's background are particularly valuable at this point in time. First, he comes from a leading scanning and capture company. Secondly, Don is one of the industry's leading voices on the importance of an effective channel. Both of these perspectives -- the importance of capture and a respect for the channel -- will be especially relevant as the ECM industry 'crosses the chasm' into mainstream markets."
AIIM International is the global authority on enterprise content management (ECM), the technologies, tools, and methods used to capture, manage, store, preserve, and deliver information to support business processes. Board members are appointed because of their specific expertise; background and knowledge of the document management and information capture industry.
Don McMahan joined Visioneer in February, 2005, as Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing with a mandate to move Visioneer and their line of Visioneer- and Xerox-branded scanners into the VAR and business markets. In his first year he created programs that brought almost 1,000 new VARs to the company. McMahan's career in the IT channel spans 25 years, including 8 years at Fujitsu, managing both the printer products in 1996 to the last 6 years managing the scanner business as Vice President of Sales for the U.S. and Latin America.
McMahan was widely credited as the architect of their success. He is on the 'Top 100 Channel Executives' List by CMP's VARBusiness Magazine and was recently named as one of CRN's "10 People You Should Know." He graduated from California State University at Fullerton with a B.A. in Communications.
