The winner of the 2006 Insight Award for Overall Performance, St. Tammany Parish Hospital of Covington, La., used Solucient tools and services, including HBSI EXPLORE(R) and ACTION O-I(R), to reach its goals of improving quality of care and reducing costs.
St. Tammany used operational and clinical benchmarking to support and set goals for the hospital's cardiac catheterization lab, significantly reducing supply expenses within a year. In part, this was accomplished by using comparative peer data to persuade physicians to standardize vendors for certain cardiac devices and to create an environment where physicians request this data to share and discuss at medical staff committees.
