AlterPoint Debuts Network Device Lifecycle Technologies at Premier Networking Industry Event in May

Business Wire, May 2, 2006

AUSTIN, Texas -- AlterPoint Executive to Present Best Practices and the Latest Technical Achievements Affecting Network Change and Configuration Management

AlterPoint, the leading provider of intelligent network change and configuration management (NCCM) solutions, announced it will be presenting new technologies at Interop 2006 (Cisco Partner Showcase Booth #1224) that provide comprehensive views of Cisco devices, including management for end-of-life/end-of-service. AlterPoint's director of strategy, David Johnson, will be discussing critical network management challenges and how network change and configuration management best practices have evolved over the last year to meet them.

"Buying network equipment is just the first step in providing businesses the tools necessary for success; having visibility into when that equipment needs to be phased out is often just as critical," said Roger Castillo, AlterPoint's chief technology officer. "We've added important capabilities to our DeviceAuthority product that help IT managers better manage device lifecycles."

Comprehensive lifecycle management is a fundamental part of IT management. DeviceAuthority provides real-time network device configuration visibility and inventory that enables automated searches for end-of-life, end-of-service (EOL/EOS) devices and components -- saving time and mitigating vulnerability risk. DeviceAuthority allows users to rapidly discover network hardware and software configuration elements and makes them accessible in a standardized, model-based repository, providing the visibility necessary to understand the impact of EOL/EOS bulletins and improve decision making and risk assessment.

In addition, DeviceAuthority allows users to write rules and policies against the inventory to prioritize, remediate, and continuously monitor EOL/EOS conditions to improve operational efficiency and govern standard configurations for the network infrastructure.

As a Gold Sponsor in the Cisco Partner Showcase, AlterPoint will demonstrate DeviceAuthority at the Cisco Partner Showcase, booth #1224. The exposition at Interop 2006 runs from May 2-4, 2006 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
