Citrix Password Manager Honored as Winner in the SC Magazine Awards 2006 Europe; European IT Security Professionals Bestow Top Recognition on Citrix Systems' Enterprise Single Sign-on Technology as Best in Industry
Business Wire, May 22, 2006
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CTXS), the global leader in access infrastructure solutions, today announced that Citrix Password Manager(TM), the most secure, efficient and easy-to-deploy enterprise single sign-on (ESSO) solution for accessing password-protected applications, was declared the winner of the prestigious SC Magazine Awards 2006 Europe in the Reader Trust category "Best Password Management." Reader Trust winners are decided by SC Magazine readers, who include enterprise CIOs, IT managers and security administrators. With more than 1,300 product and service nominations from more than 330 competing companies globally, the SC Magazine Awards are the world's leading awards program for the information security industries in the U.S., Europe and Asia.
According to a recent study by PricewaterhouseCoopers for the Department of Trade and Industry, the increase in enterprise security breaches among British companies can be attributed in part to the increasing number of user IDs and passwords employees are required to remember. The study found that employees have on average to remember three different user IDs and passwords, with some having to recall as many as 10.
"Password policies are a top concern within IT departments today," said Sally Hudson, analyst, IDC. "Products such as Citrix Password Manager, which are developed with an eye toward stringent security while offering customers granular administrative and centralized management capabilities, are poised to take advantage of the market this year as companies look to refine and enhance their password policies."
Citrix Password Manager solves the problem of password management by allowing users one-time log-in access to any Web site, Windows client, host terminal emulator or other password-protected resource. After the user's identity has been verified and authenticated, Password Manager automatically logs into enterprise resources, enforces password policies for the right level of authorized access, monitors password-related events and automates what were previously end-user tasks, such as password changes. In industries where mobility is important, Password Manager enables users to quickly switch between shared workstations using a unique feature called Hot Desktop. Password Manager delivers the best access experience for everyone: single sign-on access for users, improved password security and regulatory compliance for the business, and lower support costs for IT.
"Citrix provides the easiest-to-deploy, most user-friendly single sign-on solution to customers of all sizes around the world, and we are honored to be recognized by SC Magazine and its readers," said Michael Richtberg, product line executive for Suite Solutions & Identity Management, Access Management Group at Citrix Systems. "We have poured significant investment into the core technology behind Citrix Password Manager to ensure that our customers can substantially reduce the burden of managing the growing number of passwords and policies within an organization. This award speaks volumes for the latest version of Citrix Password Manager - both technologically and competitively."
